for thos of you that got the second issue of ski time and accualy read it youll remeber a slightly confusing debate about charles's 1 footed grind vs tanners nollie lipslide and weather or not charles should have one. My personal belief on the prior of the 2 is that both these tricks are extremely tech and sick. I see 1 footed grinds becoming as popular and stylish as nose/tail presses. On the subject of who should have won the comp. im gona have to disagree with harvey (who i still respect as much as neone in the ski industry) when he claims that tanner clearly wins. On harveys chart he gave 2 points for tanners Perfect 450 on/270 off but only one for charles perfect switch unnaty 7, therefore they tie and making pure opinion on personal style the only determining factor. I wrote this because i was reading over it and wondering if anyone else shared my same views or if i should just shut the fuck up.

i don't think that one footed slides are nearly as stylish as nose or tail presses. Also I think that the one footed is lame, but at the same time i think that charles run was still better than tanners. Don't get me wrong I tanner is so sick, i just think that charles has such different grabs that make his spins look so much different and stylish

gagnier clearly won that comp, now lets all get over it becasue it was a fuckin year ago, plus, im tired of people who claim to hate the one footers and cant even explain why.

Matthew Harvey needs to shut his mouth and keep it that way. I don't give a shit what his opinion is on how many "points" people deserved for one trick, and as Mahre said, who cares who won a fuckin TV show. Ski Time is the only "sports magazine" youll ever read that talks about something that happened a year ago like its news. Its just shitty.

yah its cuz they cant do them. i cant either, but i see so much potential for one footers becoming a standard trick, and becoming super technical

i can do 1 footers and i think theyre gay. want me to explain why? cause i think skiing is progressing by following a totally different sport. we need to progress in our own sport, not by following or copying another sport. sure snowboarding gave us a great start, but its time we start progressing not by following other sports.

Here is my opinion on the one-footers:

Skiing is about having fun. If you think sliding rails one footed is fun, by all means, do it. I have nothing against it, but it just doesn't appeal to me.

Now regarding competitions, I think nollie lipslides should beat onefooters. But apart from that, it was all about judging style, and you can't judge style in a competition, because it's all your personal opinion.

just after seeing first price trailer where the high fast slides the up rail i have a stuck image of them being sick

I cant say im a big fan of it, i mean the way it looks... i cant throw em neither, but I think its awesome that some skiers are still trying to bring the sport forward by doing new stuff on their skis.

ski time magazine is lame.. not sure what look they are going for but 'justified' is not working. there are plenty books on typography and apparently none of them own any

WHO gives a rats ballsack about what happend a year ago, Cant change the past. Everytime you take a shit do you reflect on how your ass didnt 27 out on your last 4 footer? NO, shut the fuck up allready. 06 Xgames are gonna be intense, there is gonna be blood.Kinda like when the thread creator takes a dump.

gagnier should lose points because of his annoying style. tanner shouldnt have won neither, it shoulda been jon. flawless runs and shit...sick sw 10 with perfect landing. he is king!

i didnt read too many of your posts but i read the ski time article and im gonna say this... tanner should have won.

why? I think his run was very good, but his landing on the last trick was sketchy while Charles's was neat.

1 fters are not lame, gay, or anything of the sort. just like ANY trick, they can look hagard and shitty. however, they also can look SICK if done right. i was xd up backsliding a 20 fter in our park, and all sorts of people were commin up to me tellin me it looked sick. and yah know what? most of them were snowboarders. if you guys would get your head out of your asses and stop being so terrified of being associated with rollerblading, youd realize they are a legit trick, and MUCH harder than any press.

ive never seen a sick 1 footer

so show me

besides the one in my videos section of Miles but he didnt mean to do that so it doesnt count

i seen plenty, quit your bitchin. with all respect to t hall. his nollie lip was nothing too impressive. when i seen that run there was nothing surprising about that rail i just said look a lipslide. but gagnier stood out soo soo much more with his one foot. variation is nice. some people will take from other sports. but thats how were gonna grow. until we find something thats completely ours. (which is not nollies) we cant bitch about taking from others.

jon olsson should have won. writing a magazine article about how gagnier shouldn't have won was definitely very queer.

i think tanner had the sickest 10 at the moneybooter. Yeah, sure he put his hands down a little, but COME ON! it was a freaking overtweaked-to-the-back-mute in a d-spin fakie 10?! that is just too sick.

Gagnier did a reverse true tail which means he could hold it much more easier than a mute, and jons fakie 10 reverse toxic was even more easier 'cuz a toxic is fucking child-easy (no hate on jon, he's my idol).

note: this is just a comment on the rotation itself, not the way they landed them

damn you're so core. Do you have magma and running through your veins? Don't like those funky-ass rollerbladers getting in on your sport ehh?

I just don't understand what the problem is with a new trick. It gets so old watching guys spinning on, off, and during a rail slide. Any new type of slide is good in my opinion. So if you include tail presses, nose presses, one-footed, and standard rail slide. Thats 4 ways to slide. If you remove one-footed slides, rail skiing is only at 75% of it's potential. What do you one footed haters expect to do? You act like sliding on one foot is easy. Rollerbladers existed before us. It's so hard not to mimic technique. They have 2 things under their feet... and so do we. I don't like that choppy rollerblade style either. But how can you ignor the fact that technique is there.

Some of you guys really need to pull your heads out of Armada's and the rest of the hard core skiing company's asses and be a little open minded.

And the final question. If you hate on one-footed slides you need to answer this:

"What is YOUR solution to progressing rails, if one-footers are so bad???"

add nollies, unnatural, spinning on, spinning dirty on, switch on, switch unnatural, switch dirty, blind side swicth ups, regular switch ups, ,ultiple switch ups, spinnig off, spinning dirty off, flips on, butters on, nose butters on, butters into spins on, butters into unnatual spins on, etc, etc, and throw in nose and tail presses into the mix,

thats alot more than 4, if you ask me.

... no shit dick tracy

TYPES OF SLIDES

not things you do before, in the middle, or after the rail.

The vast majority of one foot haters are the same ones that hate the switch ups and stuff too.

OH NO! rollerbladers spin on and off rails and do switch ups! we can't have that... can we??

dude all im saying is theres alot of things to do on rails already, and that my personal oppinion on 1 footed slides is that they look stupid, you can have a different opinion, im sure some people agree with me and some dont, but whatever.

you're definitely entitled to your own opinion. And I respect that. And that wasn't directed to you, but to the "steeze patrol" that hates on one-footers and anything that even resembles something from rollerblading.

I just think it's so hypocritical that they hate on one-footers, but will say progression lies in spinning on, off and during the railslide. Cause if you haven't seen an rollerbladers, they do that crazy shit.

harvey's resoning seems more correct and im going with it, because i dont really care too much either way. i just liked jon the best though. tanner 2nd.

rollerblading is intense, but not my personal favorite. ive seen them do one footes and other stuff like doing "screamin' semin" type grinds, and i think thats cool, but i just think that it doesnt belong in skiing. it has nothing to do with steeze, i just think it looks dumb. if you want to do it, go ahead, but dont look to me for props when you do one.

I didn't see it cuz i live in finland so could someone please explain what is the 1 footed gring? is it like "50-50"? If it is like that then i think they both did ecually good tricks.
