Contest Voting

What if we changed the way contests on NS were voted on. I think an open style voting process would be more beneficial to the site. With the current format being that you have to be a member to vote; I feel that there are some valid reasons to change the way we vote.

1.) It allows more people to view the content

2.) Allows for more voting

3.) Possibly bring more people to our sport

I'm not saying that it has to be for every contest, but even if some had this format; it could open up our sport more to the general public.

Too hard to control cheating.

its literally like two clicks to create an account using facebook, so its pretty easy to register to vote.

Cheating can be a big problem, and we have really advanced systems to detect and eliminate it automatically. Requires people being registered though.

4) Allows for people to post on their facebook/twitter/instagram asking random people who have no idea what's going on to click on one button to vote for them, making it a contest in who has more friends through social media that are willing to vote for them to win a contest instead of the actual content in video/photo/whatever - great idea!

Voting contests are already enough of a popularity contest, even without random people who know nothing about skiing getting involved.
