The Question:What is the correct balance between individual right and the common good?





My Topic:

Guantanamo Bay





My thesis is that individual rights are more important than the common good, hence why the constitution was made and why we follow it. My main argument was centered around the 6th ammendment and how it is violated at guantanamo bay. However, i just found out it doesnt apply to detainees there. SO NS, I NEED HELP WITH MY PAPER!!!!!

If your going with the thesis that individual rights are more important than the common good, then I would talk about the bill of rights more specifically than the entire constitution. For Guantanamo bay, you can obviously talk about the 6th amendment and possibly the 8th. As far as the the bill of rights being applied to detainees, I have always been told that all prisoners under the us were subject to the constitution, but I could be wrong.
