Connecticut skiing

so i was looking into a college in Connecticut and i was wondering what the skiing is like over there. If there are any CT locals around tell me what how it over there. oh and i heard this place caleed woodbury is pretty chill too. so yeah just tell me what its like.

ski sundown is about 50 minutes or so from hartford. it's a cool place to night ski. a discount pass gets you $12 night tickets. powder ridge is boring and 4 glorified skiing lanes. they make big jumps and get lazy and they go to poop. i have never been to woodbury. what school are you looking at?

ski sundown is a really good mtn. i have been to woodbury once, but don't particularly like it. the jumps are shaped funny and it is overpopulated by snowboarders.

proclaiming...'Wow! What a ride!'

well i did a college search and i got Quinnipiac University and it sounds alright, have you heard of it? if so whats it like? and how far from sundown?

Im no genious but im goin to have to say u should ski sundown~

Pete is currently sulking around Mt. Hood, shooting with Poor Boyz Productions and hitting on Kristi Leskinen. 'She hates guys,' Pete lamented, 'so it’s not going good.' Apparently Canada isn’t the only thing that’s tough for Pete to get into.

definitely go with sundown. woodbridge is closer, but the place seriously has about 2 maybe 3 trails and like 100 feet of vertical. i'm guessing to get to sundown from quinnipiac (i think it is in hamden?) would be about an hour and half because i live around hartford and it takes me 45 minutes.

u should make the trip to ma or even southern nh or vt cuz if u really wanna ski, u gotta go there- i drive with my family 2.5 hrs every weekend to ski, so i think u could manage that

Sundown is definitely best in CT... last year they threw up a 90 footer and the rails were the best made and most well kept in the state for sure. Obviously you'll have better if you go a couple hours but thats your choice. Quinnipiac or however you spell that is a decent college for sure.

I grew up in connecticut and the first mountain I mean hill Ive ever skied was sundown. Its better than skiing in the woods in connecticut but it would prolly get boring after ten or so minutes.

God is an American.

if you want to do some early season skiing, the guy who owns woodbury starts blowing snow the second it drops below 32. it opened in early november last year with a few rails and a c box. but the best skiing is 3 hours north in vt.

sundown will be the mountain creek of new england, small but full of perfectly made jumps and rails, the terrain park manager and grooming guy rule, they built us a 13 ft tall booter that was 90 ft in length, massive, i wish i got to hit it more.

if you want skiing that doesn't suck, go to vermont, new hampshire, or maine. it's not as good as out in colorado, but there are schools that are right on the mountains there. some schools even own their own small mountains. basically, ct skiing sucks

Anywhere in CT sucks balls for skiing. I have lived here my whole life and its a joke. I ski in Vermont or NH mostly....I would only ski in CT just for a night skiing on a weeknight like once a year. Quinnipiac is kinda further from Sundown...might be closer to Southington. No mountain is any more than 500,600 ft. vertical as far as I know (and im guessing.) As for the school itself, I don't know much about it.

We'll have you dead pretty soon.

no, i'm sorry, it is possible...numerous people have seen it, hit it, and gotten it on film...search the forum for old topics in new england and you will see, go to sundown for sure

alright so maybe i wont think about quinipac.....sundown sounds pretty nice but i dont know, and driving for 2 or 3 hours thosent sound very fun either... thanks for the input though.

www.sasfilms.com/sundown

here's a couple of clips neil put up for me of my work.

also, www.rightsideproductions.com check out the first booter in their trailor.

there are some wierd ass litigations (spelling?) going on in Connecticut right now, as far as liability goes, so things might be different in the state in the ski world. we;ll see how things evolove, but we aren;t planning on discontinuing the park scene at sundown, it;ll be in full effect.

dude i went to Quinnipiac for my first two years...i didnt like it...the drive for skiing isnt that bad, but the crowd of people is all new york and jersey. im going to CU this fall to start my junior year. ive lived in CT all my life, and let me tell you it is not that special.

In all honesty, perhaps you should look at schools that you like and have a good program instead of just ones that you want to ski at. I'm going to a school that isnt close to mountains but i get a 7 week winter break....not missing a whole lot.

I used to just look at schools for skiing before I was ACTUALLY looking....like in 9th grade I'd be like COOL LETS GO TO U OF UTAH

We'll have you dead pretty soon.

or you could just look for school that have good programs that you are interested in and coincidentally have sick skiing

Don't go to school on the east coast for school at all if you are going to go for skiing, but since your thinking about going to Conn. you probably aren't all that intrested in skiing, but like Killington, Okemo, Mount Snow are only about 2- 2 1/2 hours away, so you can be a weekender

i saw the '90 foot' table. it was more like 50 feet. tops.

If you want to go skiing and you live in CT, then drive a couple hours to vernmont, its worth it. The biggest jumps in CT are considered small up north.

you could go to woodbury if your desperate. They only have like 4 features so i wouldnt recomend it for an entire season. Its ok to go for a day by most other mountains in VT open

woodbury as alright its abot 300 ft tall but has some kind of nice rails go to sundown they have a pretty good park. not so much a good park but just the best one around as far as i know

Live to Ride

i'd just ski ct if i were you, vt doesnt have much more to offer other than mt. snows, and a few other decent terrain parks. othewise, its just longer, more crowded, more expensive, colder icy runs.
