Confused at all the hate

Why on newschoolers does almost everyone hate so much on the pros that are doing competitions like bobby brown, goepper etc.? They have done what everyones goal on here should be. They made a living out of doing what they love which is skiing. Who are all of us to say how that should be done? They go out and throw down some sick tricks and get paid to do so. They are living the life? Everyone says how skiing is about freedom and do it the way you want to do it and just have fun. Im pretty sure when bobby goes out and throws triples he loves every moment of it. So why the hate newschoolers? I say people should ski how they want because in the end skiing is about doing it your way

I know man. I dont get it either. It's always nice seeing these posts about people standing up for skiing and this website, seriously i come here just to watch edits now. All the forums are just a bunch of hate. Its kind of ridiculous but i guess that's how it is. Nice thread bro! bump!

The majority of NS does not hate, its just the handful of negative members that stand out because they are always criticizing.

You made a great point; freeskiing is about doing what you want on skis and not having to cohere to rules. Some people want to push themselves to the extreme. If that means trips, quads, quints... so be it.

I ski how I want to ski and I let people ski how they want to ski.

This is the internet so most of that hate is unfounded or bandwagon-ing and the haters wouldn't actually dare to say it to these guys face so it should be taken with a grain of salt.

I like to give goepper a hard time on NS becuase his agent is shyrl Shade, the agent of shawn johnson and former agent of gabby douglas and that she has nothing to do with skiing. Is he a good skier, yes. People on here like to hate on him because he is only a comp skier without a major video part. At some point, he's going pull a nyjah huston and everyone will suck his dick.

Brown gets hated on because he sucks at speaking. That is all.

i very much agree with you and i think you have answered yourself, in ways, as well. "making it" is a relative term, for some people its just about being able to regularly out and having a good time in the woods with friends, others it is about being more in the spotlights and sponsors.

those examples are just a piece of the spectrum and although many people like to rabble over their opinions, there is not much of a right and wrong because when it all boils down to it we are all doing what we love, skiing. everyone pushes it in their own direction and is passionate about it, so there almost becomes this protective veil over peoples views of what making it, or even what skiing should be. when people take the sport a different direction than someone else i think people tend to be a bit abrasive which would translate to all the hate. especially on the internet, i mean there is larger scale of ns, tgr, epicski, and downdays, i dont see much love coming to/from any of them. then the smaller scale of the members themselves... is more like, you are entitled to your opinion as long as it agrees with my own, otherwise you are wrong.

This is a great post +K.

It is great to be skier now, you can do so much.

back-country

pro/big mountain pro/park pro/competitive pro/non-competitive pro/make

edits and be pro/coach and be pro/photograph/video and be pro/moguls

pro/racing pro/telemark pro/park building pro/ Fuck, you can do all

these thing without being pro.

I love it all, triples, doubles,

1440's, big lines, deep pow, switch 5's, switch 3's, urban sessions, switch-ups,

butters, nollies, safety meetings... It's all skiing and its all sick

all the edits out there are sick and the industry has so much

talent. I just love going out and sliding on snow, that

is what its all about for me. Not hate - all ski

It generally has to do with the vague idea of them "selling out" and "doing it for them money" despite the fact that half the freedom of skiing is the option to "do it for the money"

the only one to be mad at are the media who display only one side of the sport, whether it's filming, just for fun, or comps

I am a culprit. I have criticized pros that throw trips and say that styley skiing is better when the reality of it all is I can neither triple nor do anything with style and I normally start celebrating if I do anything over a 5 or a backflip so I shouldn't be talking. And I will stop my hate towards people who have made It when I haven't and keep enjoying getting skiing

I personally don't discuss much in the forums except for M&A forum where people actually love skiing and share this passion. NS, IMO, I feel like it's the gathering of those who always have to critic and pick on aspects of skiing just by unconscious jealousy. Also, comments are often immature although there are many many interesting threads.

People on here hate because they are either jealous of all the attention and fame the pros get, or they hate because they can't do the tricks the pros do, so they make the harder tricks out as not cool to make themselves feel better about themselves.

Why do people say competition skiing takes skiing to a wrong direction? If there wasn't competition skiing slope style would not be an olympic event. How are the olympics the wrong direction? So dressing up as a wigger and doing 50-50s and 540s stoned off your ass while listening to rap is the right direction?

AND you lost me.

The Olympics are cool, and will bring a lot of money into the sport, BUT the Olympics also bring skiing into this odd odd storm where many very fun sports have been lost. Look at the Winter Olympics, there arent a whole lot of sports that look like that much fun. Not many people are recreational curlers or bi-athletes. Ski racing is something grounded in competitions, and freeskiing isnt.

People (like me) look at skiing as something very recreational, and not to be taken too far in a direction where we have to clear tricks with judges before trying them, or get approved to do inverts.

Olympics represent the most control freeskiing has ever seen, and thats what scares a lot of us on here.

Doing 50-50s and dressing up as a "wigger" while "stoned off your ass" are the opposite of control, its doing whatever you want and not really giving a fuck what any judge or organization has to say about it.

Just trying to explain the thoughts of some people on here.

I don't think it's a matter of whats right and wrong, its really all personal preference. Personally, I'm not a competitive person so it is hard for me to relate with competition skiing. In no way am I bitter about people doing triples or future spins though. I just think that some people would like the light to shine on the other side of park skiing; the side that is about having fun and being creative on accessibly unique features.

A lot of people troll on NS too. Sometimes so much so it's somewhat difficult to tell the difference.

I also see that everyone is scared about the olympics throwing skiing into a bad light or giving it a wrong reputation. I dont think it will change much of the general population that doesnt know anything about our sports opinion. I know if i happen to watch a sport on the olympics that i wouldnt normally see while i watch it yes i do judge whether or not i like it in that moment and for the rest of the day i dont really think about it. I feel like this is what will happen with slopestyle. To everyone other than us its not that big of a deal. We have to wait and see but i dont see it being a negative thing towards skiing.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE BAN THIS FUCKING N00B PUSSY??

Also whoever created this thread should hang himself.

A thread addressing hate on this site is created at least once a day so... fuck off already. We get it, you kids take the internet seriously and you cry yourselves to sleep whenever someone calls you a dum-dum on the forums.

Go outside, you brain dead n00bz.

I generally wish death upon you every time I read one of your posts.

This is not one of those posts.
