Confidence!

Ive seen people try new things time and time again and just before they hit that rail/jump they say 'Im gonna hurt myself.' What the hell is the point of saying that? Obviously you arent ready for what you are about to do. Skill runs along side with confidence and if you remove any of those two words when you are in the park you are in some trouble. Be confident when you do something new, convince yourself that you are going to stick it and ride away. Build your confidence up by watching other people rip the park it helps.

yeah i usually say fuck it right before i am about to do something gnar

Hopefully I will be skiing the Big K in VT until January, and the other K in CA for the rest of the season.

Im just venting because I saw a lot of people at moonstone who didnt really have the right skills in the park injure themselves, it was brutal

whenever i try a new rail or a new trick, i always say im gonna wreck myself so hard.it helps me build confidence, because im not worried that other people will rip on me, i guess. by joking about it, it elminates that element that seems to be popular in the park.

yeah claiming a fall isn't so much a lack of confidence it's just backing yourself so when you stick it, everyone is pleasantly surprised and if you eat it, everyone saw it coming.

'Today I washed my shirt with my washboard abs. I didn't even have to take it off, I just poured water on the stain and scrubbed it on my abs.' (My little brother)

'I'm in his nigger crew' (my little brother in response to my statement that he was in my 'digger crew')

'My knee hurts' (Jeff Merat after grinding a lunch table for an hour instead of sitting in the ski patrol shack for his torm mcl and acl which he got earlier that day.)

'I'm not asking for any help, just maybe for you to get off your ass.'(my dad)

yeah i gotta agree, whenever i hit something new before i drop i always say something like im so gonna die, iono it just seems to take off the pressure

yes..its like a self esteem thing...if you say your gonna die, people arent expected anything big outta u and its no big deal when u eat it..

try it infront of lotsa people then it makes you wanna stick it more so you dont look like a jackass.

'this is just like sex, only im having it!'

yeah i agree...doing new tricks in front of skiers that are better then you workd hella good...i also say...ahahaha wow im gonna dies or eat shit...then i normally stick it...i dunno why ore how but it seems to help

We're all chasing the dream

I go with the fuck it, I'll try this shit approach. Though convincing yourself that you'll fall and then proving yourself wrong may work too. I need more confidence, I'll try the liquid variety.

Falling is probably the most underrated thing in skiing these days. Falling, when done right, can be completely stylish.

^ are you saying wwe should try to fall? nah im not buying it. sometimes it is better to do stuff on your own though, or just with a buddie or two, especially when you're hiking a single feature. its always good to have someone to egg you on though.

'this is just like sex, only im having it!'

confidence is like the most important thing. it is what i dont have until i do a trick and after i do it once i can do it as many times as i want.
