Concussions...

While skiing today I suffered a blow to the head by overshooting a jump. I was knocked out for about a minute and then got up to get ski patrol. I got a concussion and can't ski for about a week. I just want to remind everyone to be safe, ski within your abilities and WEAR A DAMN HELMET! Head injuries are not worth it! Just put one on! Everybody thinks they're invincible until they eat shit. That is all. Goodnight Newschoolers and Happy New Year!

Helmets are definitely key! That said you can still get knocked out wearing one, my first day riding with a helmet I got a concussion, royally overshot a jump and split my chin open on my knee.

It's stupid not to wear a helmet, ever. Even when I see pro's without one, it makes me laugh. All it takes is one fall to change your whole life.

my friend got a concussion for 4 months playing soccer...He got tripped and kneed in the head against the goal post or something... 1st time he was allowed to do a test again, it was the midterms...

yea i wear a helmet and its saved me quite a few times. still get a bell ringer when I crash hard, but its hard to imagine what my life would be without a helmet on.

Have to agree, it utterly blows my mind that any pros opt not to wear a helmet in ANY situation. Skiing is their livelihood, though very few actually make a living from it the bottom line is they love to ski, just as all of us do. All it takes is one split second to take that all away forever. So many people have been badly injured or worse doing things they have done a million times and consider low-risk that I can't be bothered to list examples, and frankly it would sadden me to do so. Some people seem to think that to wear a helmet is somehow a sign of weakness or lack of confidence. Get the fuck over it, what you're doing is risky and ignorance of that risk is downright stupid.

Caught on a cork 9 and went onto my head. I know a minor concussion when I have one (not a new experience). Definitely never a fun thing. Be careful out there.

Yes, helmet threads are quite frequent. Helmets are fucking important and not enough people wear them so they come up often. Your sarcasm is very refreshing and quite frankly just what this site needs. Thank you.

I got a concussion last year with a helmet on, eating shit on some boiler plate ice. skiing through the upper part of the park down to the feature i wanted to hit, decided to one ski this little flat box. ski stuck to the box, went over the handlebars and drilled my head. headaches and dizziness for days after.

This still would have happened if you weren't wearing a helmet... unless you had like a full faced one. But a normal helmet doesn't protect your chin.
