Concussion

got a concussion today after fucking up on a kicker. super strange feeling. i don't remember much but i felt like being really fucked up on xanax and having a super bad hangover at the same time. all in all, it sucked haha. anyone else had one?

Got one from soccer. Didn't know it was anything bad, thought it was just a headache. Got home, barfed, went to hospital, got my head checked out. Nothing serious. On another note, were you wearing a helmet when you got your concussion?

yeah i was wearing a helmet. it was a really bad fall, the helmet didnt help to much lol; i am thankful that I had it on though or else I would have been donezooo

I've had two. One from skiing in Colorado and one in gym class. In the Colorado one, I blacked out for a second, then skied back down to my room apparently. Can't remember it.

And then the gym one happened from me and my friend knocking heads in dodgeball. Fell down, finished the game, then forgot everything until I was in the car with my aunt to the hospital.

Yeah, the reason I asked is because I'm sort of a Nazi when it comes to wearing a helmet. Wore it for a season, decided I didn't need it for backyard jibbing, skis slip and land head first on my box. I wear a helmet whenever i have a pair of stcks on. Ive heard some pretty wicked stories. Like a 5 year old at a local hill splitting her helmet into 2 separate pieces after running into a tree. She was taken to a hospital and was all right. Your life is worth more than a $50 piece of plastic, or the "steeze" you get for not wearing one.

Word I got up and waited for my friends to ski down, i remember my friend Sam skiing up to me and asking me if I was alright... the next thing I remember was sitting on a bed in the ski patrol room haha.

Wow, I feel great. I'm at 5-6 concussions, but none in the past 5 years. Basically, I usually had a wicked headache, didn't remember much, everything felt like it happened in a dream, and I was really pissed off at everyone, including people that tried to help. Immediately after my concussions I usually was really sensitive to light- I would check to see that my goggles were on because it seemed like they weren't. I split two helmets in half, and overall I'm pretty bummed about most of them. I advise to not do dumb shit when you're skiing because thats usually when they seem to happen. I'd say 2 of my concussions came from pushing myself at a reasonable level, 1 from pushing myself when I shouldn't have, and 2-3 from doing absolutely dumbass stuff. Be careful skiing- its easy to get concussions and you will probably regret it in the end.

Yea im at the 5-6 range as well with 3 serious ones in the last 8-9 months... not good. One was at a railjam, slammed my head and was super confused after. Second one was at a gym, did a dub back to the pit, didnt make it to the pit and banged my head on the area in between. Lights out. Dont remember shit for 3 hours although it took me about a minute to regain consciousness according to my friends. Most recent one was two weeks ago, hit my head doing a 7 and cracked the helmet.
Basically im an example of what you do not want to do. With one concussion, I wouldn't worry just take off a week and take it easy for another week after. But when they start piling up and becoming easier to get with worse symptoms each time, thats when you have to worry. I've started visiting an endocrinologist, but your definitely not at that stage yet.
Bottom line is be careful, Im one or two more big ones from being done for good.

you guys know you cant just keep getting concussions and keep recovering from them. at some point you have to call it quits. look at joey spencer (famous flat 7 screamin seman guy if you dont know who he is) watch how much u push yourself. and ive had 3 concussions 1 from skiing 1 from basketball and 1 from dumbshit.

I fell of my bike last summer and got a nice concussion. I couldnt see some things like my friends left eye and the text lists on my ipod. in the top left corner there was sorta like a distorted star. I got two scars and a bump next to my temple that is still there! Then i went to my friends and played COD

i have had 4 one i was playing a pick up game of football at school. and got tackled into a metal bar head first.second i was skiing and slipped out on a hand rail at hit mu fore head on the end of it. 3rd. i fell on ice skiing while haulinglast i fell of a dirt hill and went head first into a sprinkler.

I'm the same as you. And i've cracked 3 helmets and split the foam inside in half in a helmet all top quality FIS approved helmets.

I've had 8 concussions, 4 mild, 2 bad and 2 serious. (Hospitalised 48 hours for one of them)

All wearing a helmet touch wood. As it's saved my life.

got one the other day off a box, i remember how i fell i dont really remember the crash i dont remember getting up and skiing away like 20 feet, i remember seeing my girlfriend and being like who the fuck is this and almost falling over then i was fine. I felt high for the rest of the day.

He crushed his dome multiple times in a real short timeframe, he's out indefinitely I believe... fingers crossed for a comeback I want to see more screamins

I have had 2 bad ones: One from snowboarding (main reason why I don't want to try to snowboard again) and the other from dirtbike racing. One mild one from skiing when I why overshot a jump. With the bad ones I blacked out for about 15 mins and with all of them I would have a rather bad headache for up to a week.

Concussions are serious business though. I watched a special about former athletes such as boxers and football players would experienced way to many concussions in their career and as they got older many of them could no longer function on thier own or became braindead.

I've had three diagnosed concussions. One from getting decked by a kid in gym class playing kick ball (those wood floors are surprisingly unforgiving). Another from smacking the back of my head into the concrete wall of my basement while skating down there in the winter (landed a kickflip in a primo and fell back). Last one was when i broke my collarbone skiing. My ski ejected on the lip, i got pitched forward onto my shoulder/head. Concussions aren't something that you can mess around with. They become progressively easier to get and the damage is cumulative in a sense. But yeah, normally i just got a headache and my eyesight got a little funky. On my first one i blacked out, the second i got knocked out for a good minute or two, and the third was only mild so I didn't really have any major blackout, just seeing stars.

i've had like 5-7 somewhere don't really remember, but i've already had 2 this season. one was very minor, and the otherone was really bad, doing a underflip on a 40ft jump, i remember coming around to land and it was fine, but then nothing just sliding down the landing. at first nothing seemed wrong until i starting riding down, didn't know where i was. ended up walking to the patrol hut, don't remember walking in just sitting down. turned out really bad, didn't remember who i was, where i was, or giving the patrol people anything. my friend also had 2 serious ones in under a month, he can't hit jumps at all this season. ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET! worth it even if you look "Stupid"

I had my first, and a severe, one during football season this year. I had to go to the hospital because I was puking and whatnot. I dont remember the hit, but I had a bruise all the way down my forehead and face in a line. It sucked hardcore, I didnt go to class for like 4 days. Overall College football: 1... me: 0

Hope you recover quickly man

yup i got a bat one when hittin a urban a few years ago whithout a helment, its made me realise the importance of saftey and i now only go poc

i am so thankful i was wearing my giro revolver... probably would be in wayyyy worse condition if I wasnt. scary that i was planning on just wearing my beanie but decided to put my helmet on right before we went out...

First day of the season my friend was following me of a booter and had to much speed and cut across me in mid air and i landed on him, was retarted and wasnt wearing my helmet and smacked my head of the ground pretty hard. knocked out for 15 minutes couldnt remember shit and just slept pretty much all day with no appetite for a good 2-3 days. wear your helmet kids

Last year i got a concussion and was knocked out for a solid 2 minutes. Felt like I was wasted off my ass. Worst experience ever. Not to mention I dont remember shit

They really suck man, I had a super bad one, passed out, seizures and shit. Talked to Joey Spencer about his and we exchanged some good information. Obviously I'm no doctor but if you have some questions i'd love to help. Just PM me if you want to ask.
