i had a concussion today and its kind of bad, i whiped my head doing some dance moves and i was out for some time (i blacked out for sure) and then sat around for a few minutes,
what im wondering is, is there anything i can do to help with the recovery?
my symtomes are
-dizziness-i get really cold sometime-dilated eyeballs-weakness in arms-nauseas-a little bit of back pain-difficulty in walking-headache- change in consciousness-i feel like i need to throw up and im sure i will
also what are the symptoms of a hemorrhaged (i think thats what its called, its when your brain bleeds)?
also don't wear capix helmets (don't flame im getting a real helmet now)
heres a cool picture i took (feedback please)

I know everyone says go to a hospital but unless you are continually passing out of consciousness then the only thing they are going to tell you is what you already know. That you have a concussion. There is no real method to recovery besides taking it easy. And by easy I mean literally as little physical and mental activity as you can. This will give your brain time to rest and hopefully speed up the recovery process. After my last concussion, which was at the beginning of December, I had horrible headaches, nausea and nosebleeds for a solid 2 weeks after. Then they slowly started going away. There is no real way to know how long the symptoms will last, but yeah, take my advice, give your head as much rest as you can.

you know your stuff +k and thank you, i only almost re passed out once and im gonna take it easy for a while, how long do concussions take to heal because i had a minor one in mid august and i hear the more you have the worse it gets, and if it gets worse im gonna go to the er and get an mir and such

Like I said no one can really tell you how long the symptoms will last for, but I'll take my best shot. And just a disclaimer, seeing a doctor is never a bad thing, but chances are they will just tell you what you already know. My guess for you is it shouldn't take more than 4 weeks for you to be on skis again. The general consensus from most doctors I have seen about concussions, (I've had 2 major so far, don't even know how many minor, but it's probably more than I can count on one hand,) is to wait until your symptoms stop, and then wait a full week before starting to get back into sports again. And take it easy at first, don't go full out your first day back because the more you hit your head, the easier it will be to get concussions. (And trust me, that is correct.)

This is the truth. I took 2 weeks off before even going up to the mountain to shoot pictures. And it may take all the self control you've got not to ski like before once you're back on the mountain, but your head will thank you in the long run.

how long are you experiencing these symptoms... i got a concussion like a week ago, and i felt like that for like 2 days, then it went away

I got a concussion today shreddin in my buddy's back yard. Stupidly I decided not to wear a helmet and I had a nice conversation with some pvc. I went to the ER and they told me not to go to school tomorrow. They also SPECIFICALLY told me not to do any sports of go skiing for 7 days. Back to back concussions is very bad. Pretty much just chill and don't do anything stupid.
Moral of the story is wear a fucking helmet.

the clock is ticking toward your imminent death. Don't go to sleep either, that will def kill you. Just blow a ton of yao and try to finish out your bucket list before take a dirt nap

Questions like this are why you go to a doctor! It's like NS is scared of hospitals or something.

yeah you can sleep, you just need to be checked on to make sure your still there or something.

but i think thats only for the first night or two.

im not sure though

is it normal that i should still be feeling and little woozy doozy and having my head still hurt a bit?

Yep. That shit lasted for a solid 2 weeks after my last concussion, and on-off for another 2 after that. Just be happy you aren't getting nosebleeds, those along with the headaches and nauseau are by far the worst part of post-concussion symptoms.

damn, im constantly tired to, is this related or not? i just took a 4 hour nap and im still tired as hell

Heh it sucks. I gave myself a very big one on the 27th and it sucks badly for a few days then you may have the week+ long(on top of the few extra bad first days) afterglow. I didn't get mine checked like some people say to because all I've ever been told is "don't ski for 6 weeks". I felt good enough to ski on Sunday when there was finally pow and I saw you then! But you should take it easy in park this weekend..

i waited 6 or 7 hours after the concussion before sleeping but now I've been sleeping 13 or 14 hours a day in increments

Alright so in May two years ago I had a nasty MX crash overshooting a 70ft table and getting fucked up pretty bad, along with other injuries I had a severe concussion, I was unconscious for about 20 minutes and woke up in the ambulance. I spend a week in the hospital all fucked up with other injuries and the concussion. I slept basically 15 hours a day all summer, and didn't really do anything (mostly due to casts and internal injuries) But I had headaches on a daily basis for about a year and even now once and a while I'll get a headache that is killer and there's no way to pin point it but I believe their from the concussion.

Everybody and their brother claims concussions every time they wack their head. But if you actually had a legit concussion (legit meaning severe) you really have to get accustomed to dealing with post concussion symptoms. I developed some bad habits which I strongly do not suggest. I had hydrocodone prescription for a while due to other injuries but they wouldn't let me keep it so then I moved to Tylenol with codine, and drank a ton of monster java to keep awake. Don't start doing shit like that.

If your tired sleep, no medical proof as far as I know but sleeping helps you heal. Take it easy and avoid another concussion at all costs. If you don't ride with a helmet get one. People die from Second Impact Syndrome (SIS) its not a joke, it will kill you. Be careful as long as you suffer from post concussion symptoms your open to SIS.

hahaha no. i have low blood pressure too. it basically means you will have a much harder time having heart problems when you get older. but you most likely get crazy head rushes when you stand up and stuff. and cold hands. i always have cold hands. hope you feel better!

because you should be diagnosed. you also want to make sure it's not too serious. also, you really should have a doctor know, so you can check up again. you should have a doctor clear you, before you go out and play sports again. concussions are serious. i had one last spring.

bottom line: SEE A DOCTOR

I'm going to disagree a bit... I've found that all any doctors have done with me and friends who have had concussions(some very bad some minor) is say don't play sports for a few weeks(4-8). There's really not much they can do, and if you get it checked you'll get told not to ski. I'd say just don't start trying to learn dub cork 12s in the next few weeks! And Stevens finally has new jumps!! Yay
