i have madtrix but a shop at my hill can hook me up with concepts for cheap. should i buy them for urban stuff or not

Not so great on rails from my experience, I busted and bent an edge inwards on a very small rail when I caught the edge. The edges also dull very rapidly compared to volkls and scratches. A buddy of mine who is a hardcore rail skier keeps breaking the edge on his concepts and it caught and ripped out a 12' section quite easily.

I think that the core is quite soft or that the edges are not embedded in very hard material as they don't seem too tough, even though they are of a normal thickness.

in my opinion, many other skis are better on rails

From my experience I would have to agree that the edge is way too easy to rip out. I have a couple pairs that i ski quite often. They are a very reliable ski otherwise. If I was you I would probably get them if they were cheaper than $250 otherwise skie whatcha got.
