Concept Ski Survey. Please Take!!

So here's a quick spiel on my survey. I'm a senior in high school, and for my engineering capstone project we are supposed to innovate, design and prototype (and hopefully patent) a product. If anyone is in high school and is familiar with PLTW, this is my E.D.D final project. Obviously the first thing that comes to mind is designing a ski! I can kill two birds with one stone with this project, a school project and a prototype ski for use.

The basis of my design is to incorporate various technologies that have come about in recent years, such as rocker, tapered sidecuts, and construction methods etc. However I need to build a product that will appeal to "potential" consumers, that's you NS!

The survey consists of simple questions that can be answered by anyone with simple ski knowledge. Also, I am designing a park ski, specifically one that can handle the beating of rails and urban etc. However, based upon statistical analysis of my results I have to change my product design.

I believe the idea behind brass edges is more of a bend but don't break theory. Brass being much more malleable than steel, if it is used in conjunction with a softer sidewall it will most likely deform more from impact with the harder steel rails, but it may be less prone to cracking.

FYI to the OP though, it may be extremely difficult to attain brass edges for a one-off ski. So although it is in my opinion a good idea and worth a try in the future, you may want to leave it out of your school project for now. Good luck with the project though, you will definitely have some fun.

to the kid about funding, we might have a little more/less funding, however the majority is coming out of pocket and i already have a contact established who own a press.

For those of you asking about the brass edges. The idea is to creat an edge that wont crack from rail punishment, maybe i'll come across another material to be put to use, but as of now the only premade edges i can get a hold of are brass and conventional steel. It's all part of my experiment!
