I need some sick Computer speakers. They need to be able to go loud and am thinking a system with two speakers and a subwoofer. Any ideas?

i bought a 2.1 system from wal mart for $20 and it thumps decently for my room.....but then i got a really nice soundcard with optical out and hooked that up to a surround system i have and that my friend, is dope

best buy has some on sale for $40 there logitech 2 speakers with a sub. they sound great definitly worth the money

if you really want the best sound.. use optical and get a 5.1. i got a sweet altec lansing setup at compUSA for like 60 beans

Altec Lansing speakers, there's 2 skinny speakers and a HUGE sub.. Amazing sound, greatest computer speakers ever to roam the planet earth, and they're like $90CND

That should be all you need.

i have an altec lansing 2.1 system and it can BUMP. if you put your subwoofer in the corner of the room your computer is in you'll get the most bass if thats what you're going after. ive had a couple altec lansing systems between myself and family members and they've all impressed me alot.

Why are you D-Bags telling him to get some budget-minded rig from Wal-Mart when he stated he wanted something "sick"?

I agree with freeridinskier, Bose makes a kickin' 2.1 rig that is compact, clear, and has a solid low end.

Klipsch also makes some pretty reliable gear.

i have this too with my imac, they are deffinitely sick, but i could use a better sub though, deffinitely worth the money, i think they were like $55 US, if you have more money though, go with some 5.1 system, i know logitech makes some nice ones, and probably altec too

i cant say im a fan of the JBL creature speakers.. the sub is weak and the satellite's get tinny and distorted at loud volumes in my opinion. i much rather go with altec lansing speakers or ive also heard some pretty nice boston acoustics computer speakers too. i know altec lansing makes a 5.1 (maybe even a 6.1) system, and im sure boston acoustics does too. i think klipsch has a couple 5.1 setups. shop around then buy them on ebay from a wholesaler.

Unless you watch a ton of movies on your computer I don't see the point of getting a 5.1 system especially if your compromising quality for quantity.

Go to Best Buy and test all their gear. If you can't tell the difference between a $20 speaker and $150 speaker then go with the economy class.

Logitec makes these wireless ones thats like a 5.1 surround sound...theres a radio control base with LCD panel but they're like $500. Best comp speakers I;ve ever heard. I saw them at compUSA here for like $180 and i KNEW i should've gotten them but I wouldn't have had money until the next week, and by then, they were gone :(

i just picked up a set of 5.1 thx logitech z-5300

unfortunetly my laptop can't support the 5.1 so i have to go out and buy an external sound card to fully appreciated these suckers

oh and does anyone know how to hook up speakers via optical audio? like what kind of cord/adapters do I need? All this and I'm assuming the powermac G5 can support 5.1 speakers, yes?
