Somehow my sound driver is gonzo, don't ask me how, 'cause I don't know.

It it possible to get a new one without the disk that comes with the computer?

Its a Gateway MX3417, if it helps.

I'm also computer illiterate as fuck, so keep it simple.

 
too bad macs cant play any decent games.... or be put on the market at a reasonable price

but besides that, just go on the gateway site and see if they have drivers. if they dont, then find some third party driver and use that.
 
I don't want to hijack this thread but I gotta respond to this guy, who is just plain wrong.

True, many games aren't available on the mac but PLENTY of decent games are. Unreal Tournament, Guitar Hero, Madden, Tiger Woods, WoW to name just a few.

As far as pricing goes, I'm sorry Apple doesn't sell 500 dollar laptops that choke when running web browsers. Apple doesn't make low end computers and thats why they're expensive. If you want a similarly spec'd computer from Dell or HP you're going to be paying almost the same as for a Mac.
 
uhh those "500 dollar laptops" have the same chip designed by Intel as any mac laptop. you can find a normal PC with the same or even better hardware than some of the cheaper macbooks for 500 dollars. if you want to buy a mac just to run a web browser, you're just throwing hundreds of dollars into the can.
 
here's a better question, where the hell can i get a replacement for the mouse-control button thing on my laptop?
