I download a lot of stuff on my computer. I'm not sure of the size of the harddrive but if there's alot of stuff on the hard drive would it slow the computer down alot? And if i got a 40gb harddrive would that help the speed alot or no? Can someone just explain this to me.

having alot on ur memory shouldnt make it slow(someone correct me if im wrong) its how much ram u got, and how many programs are runing at the same time that determans how fast ur comp is

whats up now bitch

yea its the ammount of RAM u have,...but once ur comp is down to like 100MB and less the system will begin to slow down

ur best bet is to reformat, after abotu a year i usually do just because spyware and other viruses and shit accumulate and really slow ur computer down, reformatting isnt hard, all you need is a windows xp cd and ur golden, put it in the cd drive and restart ur computer and it will walk you through it.

the amount of RAM is what will help you increase the speed. its the space where info is stored so that the hard drive doesnt have to be accessed all the time, making your system faster. try to get at least 256 mbs of ram, id recommend 512 mb. Also, if your getting a new hard disk, check the rpm ratings. the higher the rating, the faster the disk works making the system run smoother. hope that helps

see i used to reformat my computer every couple of months. But i don't have a clue how to set up a wireless internet by myself. I used to just have cable modem and that wasn't a problem. But i did it once before and i had to have a guy come to my house to fix it.

No no, your problem is that you haven't removed the warranty seal from your hard drive. Just take it out and remove the screws from it, then there's a seal that says "If removed Warranty is void" just peel that off, and put the HDD in a dusty room and sandblast it, and you sould be fine.

having lots of stuff can slow it down somewhat cause the more stuff you have on it the longer it takes to find the information, thats why defragmenting helps it

double click my computer.

click once on the hard drive. on the side bar there will be a nice pie chart. tell us the numbers on the pretty pie.

if the empty space is less than 1gb, you're fucked. go delete your gay midget porn until you get 1gb free.

now click start > all programs > accessories > system tools > disk cleanup

now click start > all programs > accessories > system tools > disk defragmenter

if you still need help just pm me, im A+ certified or some shit.
