compressing pictures

how do i compress my pictures so i can add them to my profile. i've tried cropping them and it hasn't helped, and they are already jpeg images.

take the compression of the jpeg higher. reduce the pixels per inch to 72 (thats the highest a moniter can produce). reduce the number of colours. if its not got many colours save as a gif.

If its photoshop your using, discover the 'save for web' tool under file. Its a lifesaver for compression.
