Composing/recording

anyone? ive been using programs like fruityloops and shit for the last few years... i have a 4track digital recorder but im looking for something thats more directly connected to your PC... anyone know any good software that will allow you record with guitars and keys? im not really sure were to start or what i need to get this setup??? and im not looking to just make "beats"... im looking for something alittle more complex

Line 6 TunePort + Ableton Live or Logic Express sounds suitable for what you want to do.

I use cakewalk audio pro.....it works fabulously and has limitless tracks for recording. (limited only by your hardware)
