Complete My Quiver

I am thinking about adding a third ski to my quiver sometime in the future. I wanted some help/ideas of what ski to add.

I have lizzies for park and Hellbents for the powder. I want a ski that will fit in between those that can ski everything, preferably with rocker.

Something like JJ's, Fujas or something.

Thanks.

yea kung fujas or obsethed. have you thought about the line blends. they dont have rocker but its a fun ski

Not really.

I want something stiff also. For crud and chopped up powder for the days where its to skied out for my hellbents.

looking to fill the same sort of quiver spot as you (Lizzies & EPs.. definitely gonna wait until next year though because i think there will be more to choose from.. I was thinking about bibbys but i decided they might be too soft.

obsethed is killer. im not sure id call it stiff, but seriously the ultimate do all ski

Thats what i was thinking but kinda spendy.

I would probably buy 0809 or 0910 used skis, so they are cheaper.

Maybe when ipurchase some somebody will be selling their billygoats

BG's sound so nice, how close are the JJ and the BG that if i am on a budget. Is the performance that much different?

they're both bomb skis, for me the billy goat is everything i wanted the jj to be. superior float, stiffer, more stable yet still poppy, more durable, more forward oriented, and turnier

the billy goats somehow feel damp and stiff when you want them to be yet super poppy and playful when you want them to be whereas the jj always felt kinda jibby and centered

Ok ya i want i really quick turning ski, Small turn radius light but rockered stiff and good everywhere.

Kinda would use it for tight trees, and chopped powder and bumpy groomers.

billy goats are better for everything you described except for small turning radius. they don't ski as well as jj's on groomers but they're better in everything else

So do JJ's have a tight turning radius because i want a really quick ski. Is the difference between the two minimal.

so if i found some cheap jj;s i wouldnt be missing much with BG's?

turning quickly and having a tight radius are different things. billy goats are much easier to throw around in tight spaces but jj's will carve a smaller turn on groomers. having a tight turning radius generally applies only to groomers, for hard crud stuff you want a bigger radius so you can go faster and stay on edge so you don't have to slide over the bumps and get tossed, hence why skis like garbones and b-squads have like 30m radii

Oh alright thanks for clearing that up.

So you say BG's are easier to toss around in tight trees?

Will i be missing much if i get JJ's or is the extra money really worth it. Because i think i can find a cheap pair of JJ's

its hard for me to tell you if it'll be worth it or not. personally i'm glad i made the switch but i have no idea how you ski and what you like in a ski so it's hard for me to say

True.

Well basically i want a stiff ski to fill on the gap of my quiver.

Something light that i can toss around in the trees, for tight turns, But can shred groomers and chopped pow.

Im not too picky on performance so i would think the jj would be fine, but i didnt know if there was something else that would substantially outperform or suit my needs better, without breaking the bank.

THanks for the help by the way.

THIS!! Been skiing the wrenegades for two season, and they kill it anywhere, soft chopped snow, corn, powder for days you want to rip and not do much switch skiing (where you would use hellbents)
Definitely get the wrenegades.

Rossi S3s, ON3P Jeronimos, Kung Fujas, Moment Rocker, ect. Since you have to soft skis, probably something a bit stiffer.

Ya i want something stiff to throw in the mix.

Would JJ's overlap with my hellbents too much? or are they different enough?

they're very different

helbents are big, heavy, floppy, and pretty dead feeling whereas jj's are poppy, solid, and feel very light because the weight is distributed closer to your boot due to the taper so the swing weight feels much lighter

Haha i dont know if i can handle that pressure.

Do you know of another ski that is good for trees, and chopped crud? that wont overlap as much. Fujas?

jeronimos seem perfect for what youre describing. im thinking about selling mine. check my threads.

Ok so.

Billy Goats and JJ's are pretty similar. I like the tapered tail of the BG(skinnier tail) But is there any other skis out there with a similar design? moments or anyhting.

Not that i dont like ON3P its just i dont have the clink for them.

garbones are bomber and i love mine but they're not very poppy and they're not great in tight trees nor do they turn very tight

that being said, for what they are and how huge they are, you can throw them around really easily with the rockered tip

i've been researching similar skis, and the other models i have found in this category (rockered mid-fat, 5 dim sidecut) are:

on3p billy goat, moment bibby, armada jj, atomic bentchetler, 4frnt crj, rossi s7

and the above were listed in order of cheapest to most expensive (brand new). JJs are impossible to find in a 185, and from what i read the CRJ is on the softer end of those skis. Hope that helps.

YA thanks.

What about the moment ruby?

And i will be buying used.

I think i might have to cough up the money for BG as those are pretty much what im looking for.

i demo'ed the prophet 100s last year, they were a very good all mountain ski. i though they were pretty stiff and unlike most of the other skis you were looking at they don't have any rocker. I thought they did fine in the trees, and i found myself having to lean back a good bit to keep the tips up in the deep stuff.

Keep in mind i'm an east coaster so i don't see a lot of fresh pow or treeskiing, i might have been just as happy with two 2x4s strapped to my feet. Someone else with a little more experience with these might be able to chime in and give you a little more useful info.

i don't know too much about the ruby, from the moment website it appears to not be rockered but if you're buying it might be worth it for a good deal

^ thanks for the response. Ya i will see if somebody has skied west coast trees on them.

Im mostly looking for a light ski, 100+ that can ski tight trees. And is stiff.

have you looked at line blends? they dont have rocker in them but they are a stuffer ski that shred everything from powder to groomers to park.

I found a good ski for you. Perfect actually. The Surface One Lifes. My friend just got them (they're actually for sale if you're interested, check out Fishgills threads). Theyre super sweet skis. They feel very light, about the same as his 175 JJs, and are pretty stiff, a ton stiffer than my Hellbents or his JJs. I think that these would be perfect for you.
