Comparison: Dalbello Krypton vs. Salomon freeride boots

I don't have one, I want it. How do Dalbellos fit compared to Salomon boots? width? instep? toe box? heel cup? someone with a little experience please enlightened me
 
ive never tried salomon freeride boots, but i own krypton pros and hope to never buy another pair of boots for a long time. Kryptons have a very narrow footprint, I have narrow feet and i had to have the bunion area of the boot (that bump next to your pinky toe) punched out by the guys at the shop. They're great boots so unless you have wide feet id definitely recommend at least trying them on. But you should buy them from a shop, not online, so you can have them fitted. Either that, or buy them online and take them to a bootfitter if you have any problems. Hope that helps, good luck!
 
Used to have shitty salomons (performa 5) and recently moved to Krypton Pros. The Krypton is very narrow, and I love the control I get from the fit. The heel always stays locked into position. I would crank down my salomons all the way and still find the front of my foot and heel swimming around in there. I think part of that is just a bad boot, but for my narrow feet and high arches, the krypton works perfectly. There is no substitute for going to a good shop and getting help. Don't let price dictate what you buy. I paid shitloads for the Kryptons, but am rewarded with an amazing fit that will stay with my (non-growing) foot for many years.
 
both of those help, thanks. Here is my problem: I live in a horrible non-ski area where no shops carry Dalbello. Otherwise, I wouldn't have even asked this question. However, since they are cheap in the off season, I was wondering if it would be too big of a risk to snag a pair with trying them. I have narrow feet so I am not too worried about width, but as we all know, boot fit is everything.
 
If you think they might fit, I'd buy a pair, and see if they fit. If they don't, you seem to have a pretty succesful ebay business, you can just sell them again.
 
haha. Yeah, but over $300 is a lot of money to just be throwing around, especially if one is unsure he can sell them for the same price
 
Krypton Pros go for ~$700 at the beginning of the season, so if you try to resell them then when all the shops charge that, you can probably even make a little. But it is a pain in the ass to have to buy then sell. In your position, I would probably buy the Kryptons for 1/2 price or whatever, and see if they work. Up to you though. Good Luck.
 
I have the same problem, living in South Australia doesn't give you much opportunity to try boots on.

I'm a 28 in Xwave 9's. My feet are neither broad nor narrow. Would a 28 Krypton be a good bet?

I have krypton pros, i also have a fairly wide foot. They hurt like a bitch the first ew days on em, but I got the outer edges of my boots blown out and know they are perfect. I find that the dalbello boot liner is really bad at insulating and my feet get cold all the time. I have saved up some cash for next year so I can get some custom liners put in my boots. As much work as the boots have been, they are insane. Your heal lock is ridiculous. In other boots, I found I got mad pressure points when I did my boot up really tight. When I ride my kryptons, I keep my buckles done up fairly tight and my foot never moves. The Krypton is a good boot. For my sizing though. I used to have a salomon xwave 9 in a size 29.5 but I changed to a 28.5 with the dalbello. I found that the salomon was snug when I put it on but compressed into a swimming pool around my feet. The liner in the krypton is already paper thin. It really doesnt compact that much at all.
 
i went from a 25.5 salomon 1080 into a 24.5 krypton cross. the'yre really sick, the forward flex is completely different. because of the three pieces, there's a lot of flex but there's still great lateral control. the best part is that they fit so snugly and really lock you in. they're pretty easy to customize, so if you have narrow feet i'd say go for it.
