Community college any fun?

yes, i did a year at CC and just lived at home my first year, sucked. it was cheap, but it sucked. My experience was that most of the people that were there weren't very stoked to be. But again, it's cheaper and classes are generally easier to get into than a university. Just make sure that your credits will transfer because that really sucks when they don't

Shit im nervous now, i'll be starting at Mt. Hood Community College in the fall and im starting to get a little discouraged

You'll be good in Hood. I'm at a CC right meow, and as boring as it can be, its what works for me right now. Its cheap, close to home, and lets me work and ski. Those are prioroties right now and the only plausible way to set up for some legit scholarships is to get good grades now...even if it is boring. But in all honestly its not so bad. I've met a lot of really cool people.

Granted, its nowhere near the real college experience, but certain places are wayyy better than others.

exactly.
i'm almost done with my first two years at community college just to get all my general studies out of the way...i took pretty much the same classes my older brother took at a University and my tuition was almost half the price of his, which is a considerable amount of money.
next year i'm moving out west (currently in Wisconsin), skiing for a year, and then finishing school

sixteen credits at the U this semester put me back 3,000.in state tuition here is some of the most affordable in the country.

i was done with this thread but you actually wanted to hear a response from me so i will.

i wasnt saying anything about the relation to good deal or not. i wasnt even comparing CC to university - you did. all i was saying is out of state tuition for a 30 dollar a credit class in state is ridic.

i spent 300 bucks a credit at CC because i was out of state. those same courses wouldve costed 24 dollars a credit if i was in state. if youre just going to do school to kill time and get residency it is pointless and expensive regardless of if mommy is paying for it or not.

and if you really want to compare a univ. to a CC there is none. no matter what if you compare the same courses from each school whoever is paying attention will consider the univ. classes more relevant and respected. theyre both cheap if you got in state so if youre looking for cheap respected school go to an in state univ. not a CC.

i really dont know what you were trying to call me out on though. seems like we agree.

What? Thats some of the worst advice I've ever read. In the end it only matters where you get your 4 year degree from, no one is going to care whether you were a transfer student.
I'd argue that the classes I took at JC were superior to the ones my friends took going straight into 4 year schools. I never sat in any lecture halls. Lots of university professors work part-time at junior colleges. My economics professor was an instructor at Berkeley in the graduate school. My international relations professor was from UC Davis. Paid $35 a credit, and now I have almost no debt compared to some of my friends.

To add to that, I had an awesome time in junior college, met alot of cool people. If you're a sociable person it shouldn't be that difficult to make friends. But I realize most of you need to live in dorm halls to make friends.

where the hell do you guys get credits > $50 a credit?

my CC credits are setting me back 158 a credit. and thats DAMN cheap compared to what the U of M would cost me.

I don't know if its the case anymore, but when I went to Sierra College in California I was definitely paying less that $50 a credit.
