Common things in society that piss you off

those are extremely valid points which make it ok to be obese but common....
There are some people out there who have given up one excersise and totally blame it on it being genetic or a disease even though they can walk around and eat fatty foods all fucking day. I agree with the before poster, Sometimes there is no fucking excuse to being fat besides lazyness.
My roomate who is a lazy fuck cant run without sweating for more than like 5 minutes. He always is like oh ill got to the gym instead just sit around and drink. I would say the majority of fat people are lazy and thats why they are obese, idc how ignorant that sounds

I agree that there are lazy, fat people out there. The only problem is that just by looking at someone, you can't tell what their situation is, so you shouldn't assume they are fat and lazy.

see that's different. You've observed his lifestyle and the choices that he makes that have lead to his weight gain.

I guess what I'm getting at-- is that what you guys don't like, and what pisses you off, is people who are inactive, lazy, eat poorly, and make excuses. These are behaviors.

One typical side effect of these behaviors happens to be weight gain, so we associate them. However, it isn't fair to assume everyone overweight has these behavioral problems, so I would suggest people go back to judging behavoirs, not assuming behaviors due to the way someone looks.

Many racists associate certain behavoirs with certain races-- which is also not fair.

I just don't think it's right to associate behaviors with appearances.

smoke alarms. fuck them. i know they can save your life if there is a legit fire, but until that happens i will continue to hate them. multiple times a day mine go off for no reason and i have to find the bad one and shut it off. takes forever and they switch like ill be unplugging the faulty one and it will start going off so then i got to find a different one that isnt going off. and most of the time its at like 3 in the morning so it wakes everyone up or when im in the shower or something. pisses me off

this. and when people call drug/alcohol addiction a disease.. really? cause drugs don't just get in your body.. its a choice you make deal with the consequences its not a disease. people don't choose to get cancer and crap like that people choose to eat too much and do drugs

everyone knows that you shouldn't assume everything about someone from first glance, but it doesn't take much to figure out whether someone is actually physically incapable of losing weight or not. i mean you can't blame the increase in obesity in north america on things like depression or thyroid conditions. obesity is a widespread epidemic these days, exponentially more widespread than any of the reasons you gave for someone to obese. it's not as though 50% of Canada is walking around with a disability that prevents them from losing weight.

and just to keep me from taking the internet too seriously, I thought I'd lighten this up:

This is funny because I was about to say the exact opposite.

I hate when people hold doors open and wait for you to go through. Then you feel obligated to thank them for doing something you didn't want in the first place. Same is true of people who say "bless you." That's fucking annoying.

However, I also hate it when you're walking behind somebody, and they don't make any effort to push the door open for you. Like when they just open it enough for them, and by the time you get there, you have to stop and pull the door open again.

it's considered a disease because drug and alcohol addictions physically alter the way your brain functions. you wouldn't say cancer isn't a disease just because people choose to smoke cigarettes, or that any other disease that grows as a result of personal actions isn't a disease.

I honestly thought that people preferred wheelchairs. Hell if I had a free rascal scooter or a wheelchair (because they are rather fun) I would be riding that thing around everywhere, most of the time anyways and always down hill.

And not to argue or anything since I would rather not want to do that, you can in fact fix your insecurities most of the time. Yes, I am still aware that some people can't lose weight, just like how some people can't gain weight. But those are exceptions and should be excluded. Sure you are sticking up for people and I understand that, but everyone else seems to be hating on the people who don't try or lack motivation, I know it's not really any better but they could do something if they really wanted to, it would probably help out with their depression instead of sitting around wallowing in sadness. I think it's best to look at both sides of the coin.

for the obese, you can without a doubt know that they overeat ... you may not know if they do it because they like the taste or because they are sad, but that's beside the point. Thyroid excuse.... ehhhh ...Thyroiditis can only decrease the caloric needs by about 200 calories, sure, a few people can use it as an excuse for a 10% increase in weight, but they were probably fat before anyway.

You have a valid point. However, I think that the people that many of the posters are referring to are morbidly obese. Not just obese.

It used to be that we didn't really have a definition for obese. When I was growing up, I'd hear obese and think of people like the mom from What's Eating Gilbert Grape. But now we use the BMI calculator and there is a scientific definition for obesity-- and it's not what people typically think of when they think of obesity. Someone can be in the obese category at only 30-40 pounds overweight. So the U.S. statistic of 33% obesity for adults, although a striking statistic, doesn't paint us an accurate picture for the real escalation of the epidemic. We hear 33% of adults are obese, we think—holy shit! 1/3 people is now hundreds of pounds overweight—where in reality many of our fathers or mothers—who are just 30-40 pounds overweight—would fall into that category. Although there has been a significant increase it’s not like over the past ten years America has just ballooned out of control, it’s just that we’ve finally started to recognize a problem that always existed, and we’ve given definitions to terms that we previously had different associations with.

Here’s an example. My mom, who is 5’4” would be considered in a healthy weight range at 145 pounds. However, she would be considered obese at 175. That’s 30 pounds overweight.

But I could be wrong, maybe the posters in this thread are really sickened by the sight of women who are 30 pounds overweight. I was just assuming that they were referring to the morbidly obese. The rate for the morbidly obese in the U.S. is about 2.4%.

you'd probably hate a lot of NSer's. Seems like every skier I ever see always has a hat of some sort on. with matching hure tees of course.

When I skate to class, people that accidentally try to juke me. Like I'm heading towards someone and obviously i'll go around them but they start dancing and hopping around as if they're gonna dive one way at the last second. I had some dude skating towards me and he looked confused so I pointed him in a direction to go.

Obviously some people have diseases or other problems that lead to them being obese. The majority of obese people however have only themselves to blame for being so fat.

Someone with an active job will have to eat more than someone with a desk job. It is not an excuse to blame your obesity on your desk job. You can stay a normal weight with just an hour of exercise before/during/after work, or with none at all really.

What it comes down to is fat people are fat because they eat too much and/or don't exercise enough.

I don't really get why fat people piss you off though. I mean how can someone else being fat affect you? Unless they spill onto your plane seat or something.

How fucking stupid are you?

Point 1 - I hate it when people hold doors open for me.

Point 2 - I hate it when people don't hold doors open for me.

Go kill yourself douche bag.

I think people have a right to have insecurities.

I also think people have the right to be imperfect without being judged by others. No one is perfect. What I was getting at, is that some imperfections you can't see, and some you can. It's easy for those who have imperfections that can't be seen, to judge those who wear them on the outside.

The majority of popular music makes me want to kill everyone.

teenagers that act like hicks to try to be "cool"

People who conform to society

Suburbs

Popular music

Ignorance

american society priorities (if you cant do something for a corporations you are worthless scum)

People who chase money

In general anybody that feel they are entitled to anything except for Life liberty and pursuit of happiness

people that overereact

people that bitch and whine (i realize the irony of this)

people that are scared of change

American foreign policy

What constitutes a "bad person"

everybody more than 3 years younger than me

People being douches

Popular music

People that are sheep

people who are disrespectful

Popular music

people have a right to everything, just you know somethings like murder will end up pissing other people off and getting you put in a bad situation.

Everyone is imperfect and everyone judges everyone on it, especially looks. It's more or less impossible to not judge people. You look at someone and instantly have an idea pop in your head about who they are. And yes it sucks that "uglier" people in general get judged harsher than other people but that's just how it goes. I have bad thoughts about people all the time, they probably aren't true but I still think them and just because I think them doesn't mean that they can read my thoughts. Most people won't straight up say, "holy fuck you are fat".

Thank you. It doesn't matter why they did it to themselves it's not excusable. It's also very selfish (especially if they are parents) I feel like fat people are become yet another protected class of people the more they are the less alienated they will feel and the easier it will be for them to justify to themselves Your not helping them by excusing them

Also, I hate people who can't read then proceed to get mad at you for misunderstanding what you said. (that's you)

I'm saying I hate it when people only do the bare minimum to get themselves through the door and don't push the door open a little bit as they're passing through even though they know you're close behind them. I also hate it when people go out of their way to let you pass through the door before them even though they got to the door first.

Ohhh ya that's intolerance buddy.... Give me a break. Proof positive we have all grown up in a sheltered candy land (myself included).

I'm a cashier at a grocery store and there are two things that really piss me the fuck off there: People who talk on their cell phones while in line, and people who don't put their things in any type of order and just throw their shit on the belt and then piss and moan because all of their items aren't sorted out.

And non-job related, most of the pop music shit that is being cranked out today that people are eating up off the radios.

Not exactly opposite, but I hate pretentious golf clubs that make you take your hat off in the clubhouse even though you have hat hair from wearing your hat while playing their golf course.

That being said, aside from golf clubs and some other exceptions, it is kind of trashy to wear a hat in a restaurant, especially if it's a nice restaurant.

I don't think people should need to be excused by you.

But the point of this particular post was in response to my original post about something I didn't like --"generalizations about people you don't know." This post wasn't a post about whether or not obesity should be "excused." Furthermore, if you looked at my posts, you'd see that I don't associate all obese people as having something in common. So, if I were talking about whether or not something is excusable, I'd take a deeper look at the behaviors of the individual, and make determinations about whether or not the behavior is excusable--not their body.

Well I don't like that certain classes of people are protected and defended with more zeal than others. And I don't like when I'm stuck next to a fat person on the plane it's like getting an instant down grade and it isn't fair to us who take care of ourseleves so I guess we have made our respective points

They're not a "protected class" that I'm aware of. On average they make less, are less likely to get promotions, and live shorter lives. Survival of the fittest--this is natural, and a good thing (I'll probably get hated on here)-- but it is in the “fittest’s’” best interest to keep the fat, fat.

You think I don't judge extremely obese people when I see them? Of course I do-- I can't help it. I don't assume certain behaviors, but I can't help but to be grossed out and sometimes think of them as pathetic. However, I'm extremely ashamed of myself for this. The people in these forums say horrible things about fat people with unapologetic arrogance.

Only if we are fighting each other, which we aren't, well I'm not anyways. So I am ok with them not staying fat.

I said they are becoming a protected class. They are winning so called "discrimination" lawsuits for being fired by bosses that considered them health insurance liabilities or believe a healthier person could preform the job better. And even for just simply saying it doesn't fit the imgage of the business. They also are fighting hard to not have to pay their fare share for airline flights if they consume more space than they are allotted.

Well that stuff pisses me off too.

When I see stuff like this, I typically get pissed at society for becoming so sue-happy-- fat or otherwise. I think there are escalating problems in our legal system and the extent to which people are ready to sue others, and how companies have to walk on thin ice to stay politically correct and save their asses from lawsuits (airlines).

-People who cruise in the passing lane on the highway and go fucking slow as shit. The passing lane is for passing fuck.
- Loud stupid opinionated girls.
