Coming to mammoth jan 2009

We are 3 guys from denmark coming to mammoth 1st of Jan 2009. I've been searching the internet, the last couple of months. Mammoth mountains forums, mammoth times etc. for accomodation, but every time i got the answer. We are trying to rent it out for the whole season or yearly rental(We are going to be there from 1st jan to 27th of march). Get back to me in november and we will have a look at it.
Since its my first season out of europe, im not quite sure how to relate to this. Because i would really like to get this accomodation overwith, so i can start planing the rest of the trip.

Now the question is, if its impossible to find accomodation for those three months, is it possible to come to mammoth in january and then just go from door to door, asking if they got something available? And is there any hostels to stay at in the beginning?

Thanks in advance!

Finding housing in Mammoth is really tough. There aren't really any good websites for the area as far as finding housing goes, and your timing is very poor. January is pretty far into ski season to find any place open for rent. Everything generally fills up by October or November. I tried to move to Mammoth this past January and realized it wasn't really plausible, because there was pretty much nowhere to live. Instead I moved to Tahoe in June. Are you and your friends going to be working for the mountain? If that's the case, you could probably have Mammoth Mountain set you up in employee housing.

Be aware that the hostel in Mammoth is kind of expensive ($40 per night). It's a cool place though; I stayed there for a night two seasons ago.

depending on your budget, you might actually want to call and speak to the management of several prospective places (or email). there are several houses for rent, im not quite poitive as to which ones are/are not, but if you call command performance (unfortunatly no email address) in mammoth they could probably give you refferals to such places available.

and people there are willing to talk pricing and negotiations.

bad luck i dont have command perormances phone anymore tho.

And the first couple of lines, are you proposing i should call real estate companies or what do you mean?
