Hey, I'm going to have my first semester of my freshmen year of college at the Swinburne Institute of Technology starting in late July/early August and I'll be staying in Melbourne. I'm 18 and wondering if anyone has recommendations for anything I should do or places I should go.

Join the Swinburne snow club when you get here to find other like minded people

If you are into skiing park come ski at Mt. Buller or Falls Creek. If you are into steeper skiing and pow Hotham is best for that in Victoria. Buller and Falls have a good mix of everything.

Also if you're living in Melbourne Mt Buller is the closest mountain with a 3 hour drive and a lot of buses you can catch. Whilst Hotham and falls are both about 5 hours away and I don't think there is much transport if you don't have a car.

When you join Swinburne make sure you ask to do Vic IVs. That's the state uni championships in July. I run the racing side of the Melbourne University ski club...hopefully see you up there :)

I'm from New England and am used to skiing is really cold conditions, will I need to have a heavy winter jacket for skiing? And are helmets available to be rented at the mountains?

if you're at swinburne there are 3 pubs/clubs that go off every tuesday within about a 5 minute walk pm me for details/catch up
