ive come to accept the rio verde as my home waters.

its an amazing waterway some 730 miles from its headwaters in the winds range to it's confluence with the colorado in canyonlands np.

its been damed at fontenelle and flaming gorge and thankfully not at echo park but the river channel hasn't changed since Ashley, Powell, Holstrom and ealy mountain men and exploers floated it in handmade wooden boats pre maps, gps, not even knowin what the next river bend held.

So when the we scored a ladore permit, you in?, pm came, it was a no brainer

bit above my dory rowin skills

so i bought in on 1/2 a buddies rubber rig

called a cali bro iveshared a lot of bc adventures with for his last pre fatherhood adventure

blew a tire on the way but made it to the gates the night before and awoke and packed the rafts

the permit system and requirements to float have been put in place to ensure safety

and the camps and eccosystem don't get trashed.

your turds go in the groover, fires in the firepan your dish water gets strained, there's tarps on the kitchen floor.

your expected to have extra essential gear oars, first aid and the ability to perform self rescue, patch kits, z drags and rig to flip ready

the ranger was cool sailed through our inspection and got the float on

and while we caught fish we reaped the splendor of huge canyon walls

amazing how small the rafts seem

sadly i thinks this may have been the last
