Colour Correction

So I finally got a real computer I can edit on. Im using final cut pro and am just wondering what is best to use for colour correction? I was thinking about magic bullet looks, and maybe colourista if I could find a download. I also have after effects but just got it today so havn't had a chance to use it yet although i know it can be used to colour correct as well. What do you guys use? And when should I colour correct/add a tint, before I bring the clips into final cut pro? Seperatly in final cut pro? Although I'm pretty sure you can't do that with after effects. Or do I do it all after I'm done putting the edit together?

I do my color CORRECTION in FCP, 3 way-color-corrector. Now, for color GRADING i use magic bullet looks. Although, you can do a good amount of color grading with the 3way color-corrector too.

Color correction is when you correct the color, like balance your black and white levels. Color grading is when you start to play with tint, saturation etc.

color corrector 3-way is all you need really for color in edits...white balance and can do B&W....just watch some youtube tutorials, pretty easy to pick up on

there's a lot of stuff you could do in magic bullet that you couldn't do with a 3 way.

as Evan said, the 3-way corrector is for making your colors look accurate.

something like magic bullet is for grading, or making your colors look sick as fuck.

haha well if you're you.

and i don't mean that in a bad way at all, i just mean that sometimes i go for looks like the blockbuster look in MBL that could never be achieved in-camera, whereas you generally go for the bright, accurate colors that you can get if you know what you're doing.
