hey yo me and my dad had a discussion about this today ... i know im from the east so help me out here. how long do the mountains usually stay open near denver ?

Arapahoe Basin (A Basin) usually tries to stay open until July 4 and they make it about half the time. A-Basin is open until at least mid-june every year even if they don't make it to the 4th, but by june and july it's usually just a handul of runs and obviously the snow is pretty mushy. In april you can basically ski anywhere in CO and there is even good fresh snow quite a bit of the time. Many resorts start to shut down by may, but A-basin is still very sick with great spring conditions throughout may.

Arapahoe is awesome! We went there 1 day on our trip to breck 1 year. Loveland is pretty good if you like black/double black runs. Loveland closes in Early may. If you wanna go for extreme backcountry, go to Berthoud Pass, its open til june or something. Winterpark and Breck and that area is open until late April.

Ya, well, unfortunately, Berthoud Pass has closed their lifts down. They are now only snow cat service. Cool place it was. But now we have Silverton which should be a SICK place for backcountry lift accessible terrain. But ya gotta have a probe, shovel, and transceiver. As for when CO is open and stuff. I'm hopin to make it to first day @ loveland which should be middle of october. You can typically ski A-Basin up until mid june - early july.

Hope this helps

App- Berthoud announced they will not be reopening about 2 weeks ago which sucks because it was by far the sickest resort near the front range. Silverton will kick ass but like Charles said you need bc gear and it is a long drive from most everywhere, like 6 hours or so from the Denver area.

ya, which means 9hrs from me. i might as well drive up to jackson, its only 8

He's not nine hours from the nearest resort, he is 9 hours from Silverton. You are what Charles, 2, maybe 2 1/2 hours from Eldora? That would be the closest.

No Eldora is pretty average in terms of Colorado base elevation, probably around 8,000 feet or a little more. It's a pretty crappy mountain but it's only 20 minutes from Boulder and the University of Colorado, which is good.

um like we stay open till late may some stay open till like july like a basin and some o our parks are up wicked early like we have complete huge parks by early december and jumps like a week after the mountain opens

dspin, copper hasn't been sporting good rails yet, hopefully this year, but i've been disappointed. i think breck has one phat terrain park. god damn i can't wait till this season. MC i'll be up at the x games too. thats gonna be very sick.

To be honest dude... watching the X Games live SUCKS unless you don't mind not being able to see anything and being smashed in a small area with 30,000 other people.
