Colorado University 420

Today my friend and I were talking about schools we might go to and I mentioned Colorado and he brought up this:

/static/images/flash_video_placeholder.pngI had never heard of this and thought I would share. How does this happen without everyone getting busted?

It's a peaceful protest, there is no need to arrest anyone. That isn't even that packed compared the annual Art Gallery 4/20 celebration in Vancouver.

420 is like colorado christmas no one goes to work and if they do its baked out of their mind and cops go out and bust meth labs and coke dealers instead of their usuall canibas dealers and smokers its a very nice day.

boulder has shitty weed.. its to pricy. in the end there not much good of colorado east of the rockies. sorry i lived there foro two years in leadville i would go party in boulder. and i man if i have to se a nother bro with his CU hat on backwards talking bout how much he loves String cheese... well i could die a happy man.

i remember the first time i smoked weed...

great job hippies you're poluting the earth

go get a job

I was at the art gallery this year, missed the actual 4:20 because I had an exam.

I feel like there were more people at Boulder, at least from what I saw in the video, but nothing will ever compare to the ridiculous scene at the art gallery on 4:20.... Homeless goth punks on chains, 3 ounce weed cakes for raffle, pre-rolled joints for sale, Electric Wizard was performing... Good times lol.

The cops are there but can't do anything when over 10,000 people are there smoking. They used to take peoples pictures and offer a $50 reward to people who would identify them but have since stopped. CU is the best time you will have in your life. I highly recommend going.

I honestly don't know, I couldn't give you an honest comparison. DU is great academically though and Denver is a great city. I'm sure it is a good time.

Simply stated: "Why fight it"?

Cops allow it because it is going to happen anyhow so why not assume some control over the event? That is why everyone is in a sectioned off area so it can be monitored easier.

As for the post asking about University of Denver (DU), it's a great school, good academics and good leadership from top to bottom. It is expensive though (but so is CU-Boulder if you are from out of state). The proximity of DU to Denver makes it a better choice than CU-Boulder. With DU, you can take public transportation to get to and from downtown quite easily and quickly. Plus, unlimited fare on the lightrail is included into your tuition (like $40 charge each semester). If you're in Boulder, you are a little isolated and the drive about 20-35 minutes to get to Denver....but Boulder offers modern conveniences too so you don't have to leave Boulder if you don't have to....it's just the nightlife in Boulder starts to get repetitive over the course of four years...

Personally, if I had to do it over again, I probably would choose CU-Boulder over DU, but hindsight is 20/20 and grass is greener on the other side...

old news is old
however, the medical program did just get killed there, so it should be interesting to see whether that causes a crackdown on weed use or even how long that law will stay in place

I go here and 4/20's alright, but it is literally exactly what you think it is, not a whole lot more. You sit out in a field, smoke for a half hour, then its over. There are way better reasons to come to this school than a an event that happens for an hour one day of the entire years when you can smoke weed in public.

Somewhat related, watched the video and read the thread, went downstairs right after to get a glass of chocolate milk, looked at the clock, and it was 4:20 pm.

my girlfriend graduated there last year and said that one of her classes got cancelled this past 4/20 because the the room was basically baked with smoke. boulder is a nutty town
