Colorado Resorts

Hey folks,

I am from Bavaria / Germany (where the Oktoberfest is ;-) ) and I am planning to visit Colorado in January. I have found reports about the US resort on a website:

http://www.skiresorts-test.com/ski-resorts/usa

It´s obviously a european website as they have ways more resorts in Europe online, but at least some resorts in Utah and Colorado are tested, too. Anyways I wanted to ask if you agree with the reports up there. It seems that Vail and Aspen (at least Ajax) offer the best Off-Piste in Colorado. Is that right? Tree-Skiing in Steamboat seems to be a must do, too. Do you know any spots I definitely have to go to?

Thanks a lot

Martin

try ot avoid big resorts like vail, aspen, beaver creek. theyr pretty expensive and usually loaded wit gaper tourist familes.

a-basin has really good tree runs and pow stashes... at least they did when i went last year.

keystone and brec both have a really good park.

crested butte has INSANE backcountry and gnarly cliif and tree lines. (my favorite mountain) its fairly far outa the way too so its usually not that crowded.

winter park is good. i havent skiied there in a long time tho. but from what i remember, it was good.

If the snow's good, you really can't go wrong. Vail has awesome bowls and cliffs, but it's not very steep. Keystone and Breck have great parks and decent tree skiing, but they aren't very steep either. Crested Butte probably has the best steeps in CO, but they don't have much of a park and its far from an airport. Alta and Snowbird have really good steeps, if you're looking into Utah, and Park City, an hour away, has amazing parks.

Vail is a lot like the Garmich area, but they have some great steep stuff out back. You will like Colorado, way better than Germany.
