Colorado night skiing

This might be a repost. but i did advance search bar so. And plus this is probably worth a repost.

Last year a guy i was working with told be about one of the sickest night time skiing things ever. He said there is some pass in colorado that on every full moon people go out to and will ski down from the top of the pass and the there are bonfires in the woods and u can just keep hitching rides back up and stuff. it sounds so sick i was hoping someone knew the name of the pass and if it still goes on.

im 95% sure thats where it is. my old race coach did a few times and told us about it. sounds super dope

See i was kinda under the impression it wasnt a actual ski area just like of the side of the road. but i could have been wrong the guy that was talking was kinda crazy

no idea. sounds really cool though. i know keystone has night skiing....not involving bonfires and stuff though haha.

if anyone has any leads on this, please let us know...this is now stuck in "my threads" so i can follow it, i'd really like to know for the upcoming winter when i move, ive always wanted to moonlight ski like that...sounds amazing

Im not sure but maybe its monarch pass right before crested butte? They get soo much snow up there ever time ive gone to crested butte ive wanted to stop on the pass and ski

Definitely not Crested Butte, although we have done that for sure. Usually it is just a couple of people though, and with the exception of tele skiers, they usually just hike up and night session the lower rail park.

Yeah thats loveland pass... people always ride it and hitch rides back up 6 with random drivers to take laps.

loveland fo sho.

we met this dude up there with a little party bus that was shuttling people all night. shit was crazy. got so drunk.

alright so does this go down EVERY full moon? are there actual bonfires?

jw, i dont want to drive all the way down there at night and find nobody

the guy with the party bus was random. but yea, theres bound to be some people up there on a full moon. couple people are up there regardless if its the weekend and snow is good. super dope shack up there as well but you will have to find it.

Sounds like good fun. I'll have to make my way up there with a few buds and check it out when we get a full moon this season

Monarch pass is like 2 hours from Crested Butte.

They are probably talking about Loveland pass. I have picked up people while it's getting dark and the moon is coming out. A couple of bros with day tickets on their gaper jackets. It is backcountry, so bring your avy gear and knowledge. Don't just think its safe because of there are bonfires and a bunch of hippies.

hes probably talking about loveland pass. lots of people go up there on full moons and make bonfires and shit. its cool

hahaha yah i need some training, east coast doesnt really have avalanche issues. ive driven through the pass twice right after guys have set off slides, i dont want to get stuck in something like that.

There is also a bowl around Berthod pass that people ski. Its not as easily accessible as Loveland pass is, but I hear it is bright enough on a full moon that you wouldn't even want a head lamp.
