Colorado Mountains

My friends and I are taking a trip out to Colorado this year for my friends 21st. We're trying to find the best mountains to go to that are on the epic pass. I was thinking that the order is Vail>Breck>Beaver Creek>Keystone. Also does anyone know where the best town is to stay? We were thinking about either staying in Dillon or Breck.

Crested butte before anything else. Shits not roght next to the 4 mentioned but its in the epic pass and it's the best mtn in CO on it. Tell me I'm wrong and I'll fight you.

Def worth doing all 4 of the VR mtns on 70 since they're pretty dsmn close. If you can snag a comp or cheap to abay or copper that could be fun too if you have time.

Vails pretty overrated Imo, I'd rather hit beaver creek if the snows nice. BC has a ton of terrain that nobody rides lifts that people barely go up.

Keystone has the best park on epic. Sounds like a fun trip!

Depending on how your time frame is black canyon is another 40 min from gunnison I think. That place is lretty sick and if you don't have a parks car I dont think they staff the gate in winter anyway. Creted butte is a cool town to spend a night in as well if youre all 21.

Also if 21 can do a drive through glenwood canyon when hitting BC. And bonfire brewing in eagle is pretty dank. Im a big fan of their brown ale. I used to live pretty close to it. Glenwood canyon burned a bunch but it's still a realy nice road. Idk what the deal is with hanging lake now both that its a permit system these days, the fire, and it being winter . My friends hiked it in snow begore and it wasn't too bad. That place is pretty cool.

Northside pizza in breck has some good deals still for beer apps and pizza. Worth checking out to save some loot at happy hour.

I figure it's probably pretty much focussed on skiing but if you wanna do other shit some of that stuff is cool.

Also recommended a drive around liveland pass even if you don't ski there it's a nice road with good views.

Crested Butte is terrible! They don't have enough groomers, they deliberately leave ROCKS all over the snow (I almost HIT one once!), and their chairlifts aren't even heated! Plus the T-bar lift operator (who smelled like MARIJUANA) yelled at me when I fell off for the 6th time in a row and made me go all the way to the BACK of the line — even after I told him I had an Epic Pass! I left them a VERY strongly worded review on Yelp so I'm expecting Bob Katz to get back to me soon with a refund so I can go ski VAIL where their trails are not so dangerously steep!

Holy shit all the things my brain went through reading this.

I don’t know if you guys know this, but I’m actually a yelp reviewer for ski resorts. So if you could give me first Chair that’d be great

Vail and Beaver Creek are really close. If you're going to one and have a car, you could easily do at least one day at the other. Same with Breck and Keystone being next to each other. Most of the lodging in Vail/Beaver Creek tends to be crazy expensive. Breck/Keystone is more affordable.

I've bever been to cb after they went epic. But that's legit. Really good mtn, kinda sketchy park, legit steeps, fun town. Also was hooking up with somebody at western one season so spent some time in gunnison.

You need a job reviewing ski resorts.

This is legit advice except for a few things:

- Vail the mountain is actually cool. There's tons of terrain to explore. The town is terrible but there are a few good places to get food: The George, Little Diner, Garfinkles

- CB is a really really cool place, but most of the mountain doesn't open until January. Don't go to CB early season expecting to ski the whole place.

I dont hate vail I've just had better luck finding good terrain and untracked pow at BC. Ive def gotten some good uncrowded pow days at vail though.

Bruh, when you ski your chairs are not supposed to be heated. That's for people who can't handle the sweet nip of frozen winter air. Seems like you should be skiing baby greens instead of complaining about a mountain that is kickass. ALSO, get used to marijuana being legal...its good for the state. Take the L

Why does Breck suck so much?

Where to begin

Crowded

Overly priced everything including parking unless you park at the pain in the ass airport or rink lot.

Skied off by 10am on any powder day

Chairlift to ski park on the weekend is a shit show

Haha well I fell for it! Good one ? I’ve just met so many tourists who complain like that

Here's how a sample powder day would go:

6:00 AM: Breck reports 12" while other nearby areas report 6-8". While 12" may have certainly fallen on their snowstake located in the trees off of 6 Chair (hint if you actually wanna find pow), the majority of the mountain will have 2-4" and possibly stripped bare due to wind effect.

6:05 AM: (all of Denver oblivious to this information) HOLY SHIT LETS GOOO!!!!1!1!

8:00 AM: (assuming everything is fine on the roads and you make it to the mountain) Park in Airport Lot.

8:10 AM: Wait in line for bus to gondola.

8:25 AM: Get on bus.

8:35 AM: Get off bus. Get in line at gondola.

8:55 AM: Get on gondola.

9:05 AM: Get off gondola. Wait in line at Peak 7 or Peak 8 base.

9:25 AM: On the chairlift!

9:40 AM: In line at T-Bar or 6 Chair

10:00 AM: Finally at the top of some good terrain. Aw shit it's just bumps :(

Yep
