Colorado College

No, I don't mean CU Boulder or CMC or any of those. Colorado College, in Colorado Springs. Who got admitted? Who goes there now and what do you think?

I searchbarred and checked out the threads, it was just the same people responding. Maybe there are a couple more people there who have some different opinions or could expand on what they said. Like the majors you do and stuff, class size, etc.

Thanks for anything you can give me, I'm 90% sure I'm going. Even still, I want to get as much info as I can before I send in my deposit.

I am not personally going, but CC is supposed to be a very good school. I just couldn't deal with the block programs. Also CC itself is bamf, but Colorado Springs is not. Crazy religious people, focus on the family shits intense down there. But its easy to avoid. Everything I have heard is good and a lot of my friends like it there.

I've been really interested in it, Great skiing, the block program is the style of learning that I think would fit me perfectly, and the have D3 lacrosse and i would love to get recruited by them, im trying but its hard with them being in colorado. Im 16 and a sophomore, so i have a lot of time, but its one of the few early schools im really interested in.

The only things i dont like, its a little bit bigger than my high school, and i really dont like that (UVM is like 5x the size, perfect size). Also, its far (my parents don't want to have to fly me), and there was one more thing but i dont remember what it is...

My high school has 430 something people. Small boarding school. I was in a AAA public high school for the first two years. I like the smallness because it's hard for me to organize, and it allows for things like the block program. So I dunno...for me, it's a plus.

UVM does have a great vibe and I got some great offers from there but personally I'd rather spend the money and go to a really unique place like CC, and you have Breck and Keystone decently close. I don't mind religious families either, I used to be pretty religious and I'm not really looked at as one of those "rebel kids." So it's pretty much all positives for me.

That would be sick to get recruited, I wish my school had a lax program. My old school had a great one, best in washington for a while. Still is up there.

ooo, that was the last con, its very expensive. And D3 lacrosse schools don't give money so i would have to hope for an achedemic scholarship of some sort or else its going to be lots and lots of money that my parents dont want to spend after putting my brothers through college and grad schoool too

and my highschool is like 1300 kids or so, CC is 1800 or so. I can't image knowing everyones face in college (i mean i probably wont, but you know what i mean) like i do in high school.

But yeah, the skiing is really sick around there, and the block program is perfect because when i take a class, time off between it and all that just gives me time to forget, if i take one class straight through, no other stuff, i would do absolutly amazing.

Yeah every day of the class is like a week of normal college haha, it's tough but it's also my learning style so it works. If I go slow then I overthink it. CC has 2100 students or something (not a big difference than your number, but still, over 2000 and under 2000 is kind of my cutoff). The cash is also why I'm not just sending in my deposit right away, I want to see if I get the full ride to UVM or if I get into UW honors. Since I'm a resident I'd have a cheaper tuition. Blah...a good education isn't cheap, but my parents are willing to pay for most of it and I'm glad to work for a good portion of it.

i have a friend that goes there and she loves it. It's tough to get in though and she says its a lot of work, despite the block schedule. good luck. i want to go there but its too late now.

UVM is also very expensive for out of state... But i'm also trying to get recruited by them for lacrosse, haha. What kinds of grade do you guys have (GPA, SATs) if you don't mind me asking

I got in and I'm pretty sure I will be going. It's a dope school and I have a lot of friends that go there and love it. Going to school in Colorado Springs will double the amount of time it takes me to get to Breck right now but it's worth it because Breck is awesome and CC is awesome.

i visited a friend who goes there. it was pretty cracking. all the kids are pretty smart and either loaded or on huge scholarships. for the most part kids seemed really mellow and chillin in their flannel. lots of jam band/reggae/electronic music. acid, and molly were pretty popular too. you have to live on campus for the first three years but your allowed to drink in the dorms. your protected from the city police by being a cc student they really don't mess with you. at house parties all the beer is free! paid for by seniors, its your duty. parties were wild for the amount of kids at the school. everyone goes to basically the same parties and all the houses kids live in are walking distance (few blocks) from campus. I thought it was dope but you gotta remember the kids their also study their asses off.

Hey Matt

i hella want to go there, but if you know Addis Goldman, his brother Sam goes there, and he films with 4bi9 on occasion, so thats a bonus. Hella good skiing community too. My marine bio teacher went there and said it was just the most awesome place he's ever been.

and yeah, colorado springs is kinda balls in your mouth, but whatever, its only four years

I got a 2080 on my SAT's and I have a 3.65 GPA, pretty much all honors and AP courses from grade 10 on though. We don't get the 5.0 GPA for the AP's at my school.

And yeah this all sounds super dope, I'm hoping to get a scholarship for community service, but my parents and I have been saving for college since I was born. I don't drink, but I do smoke and I'm interested in acid and the like. Parties are always fun anyways, even if you don't drink. The music scene sounds awesome and somewhat unique, and the vibe on campus seems like it will fit me pretty well even if C.Springs doesn't.

STOKED.

do you consider those grades high for CC? i haven't taken the SATs, and i have like a 3.3ish, im going to be taking AP's next year, probably will take 3 AP classes in my HS career (2 science, 1 math). Im also in advanced math. Im just not that great in english and social studies. I'm smart, but i dont study or anything like that. i do the minimum amount of work, so my GPA seems to bounce around alot

yo i go to cc, its wicked sweet school and the block plan and block breaks are the best, but ya if you have questions just shoot me a pm.

Im at CC man....place is sick....good kids, good skiing, good school sometimes....hit me up if u want to know anything...glad to help.

so im going to bump this really old thread...

I'm a senior now and just applied. literally like 3 hours ago. I'm wondering how much my procrastination will affect their admission decision, considering the deadline is 2 weeks away....i'm hoping the fact that i live in CT will help, but it's definitely a reach school for me. did anyone else apply recently/get accepted?

I got recruited there for lax and went out and did a visit, it was super sick. Good vibes, nice people and everyone there loved to ski. Ultimately, I didn't go to CC though, I went to Connecticut College instead because I wanted a NESCAC school/athletics, plus its closer to home.

oh, and i just went and looked at CC

unfortunately, it was winter break when i went so it was a ghost town.

there are churches everywhere, and the couple people i saw were kinda hicks and weirdos

but the college looks sick, and i love the block program idea, and its close to skiing and the mountains basically tower behind the campus.

definitely looks dope I checked it out with my sister cause she almost went there. colorado springs definitely isn't the best city out there, but I'm sure it will be fun as long as you meet the right people.

just had to share that my friend filled out some online survey's and colorado college called him up telling him that he was accepted. haha

i got in early action a couple weeks ago. I thought it was a huge stretch so i was super stoked to get in. I also got in to University of Denver a couple days ago, so now I have to decide between DU and CC...can anyone help?

yea, jaqkapparel!^

and yeah unigo.com has a whole bunch of reviews and all, but it would be nice to see the skier's perspective on CC. And Im guessing most people would hang out on campus anyway, so colorado springs being a letdown probably isnt that big a deal

aside from there being a church on every corner, and the air force academy near by, and it being one of the most conservative cities in america, its actually not a bad place... i mean its safe, and nice, and there are things to do

i mean go look at Trinity in CT, shits a beautiful square of land surrounded by mexicans and a shit hole town.

I've wanted to go there so bad since I found out about it as a freshman, but now I've fucked up in school the first term of junior year, so Im thinking I've blown my chances

My dad went there and played soccer, but I talked to the lacrosse coach and he is really cool. He came from penn state or some big d1 college last year. I don't think I am gonna go there but if you are interested in playing there I would contact him during your junior year and just give him your info.
It is a cool school but a little too small for me.

i went to his camp and he drove me to the airport and everything

to be honest, hes kind of an asshole, and i hate astroturf...

CC is not for everyone. DU is a great school and there are many moments I wish I was there. I don't mean to rain on anyone's CC train but I just want all to know that CC is definitely not for everyone.

I'm most likely going to CC next year. I was wondering what season pass most ppl there buy and when they go on sale.

Thanks!

As a college laxer, no skiing. I was talking to a few D3 schools about playing lax for them and they said that they don't let players ski or snowboard due to the injury risk. Something to consider before committing to college lax.

i just got the letter in the mail, i dunno if ill end up going though who knows. PM me if you decide to go there

most people get the colorado pass, its probably the best deal with the 10 days at vail and beavercreek, although no one ever goes to beaver creek. If you're not bringing a car definitely make friends with people who have one makes skiing way more consistent, you can go way more and you can actually go to places besides keystone and breck
