Colorado AVY Death

Reports say that a group of snowmobilers were high marking near a popular spot on Gravel Mountain when a slab let go and killed the 2 men. Neither were wearing AVY gear.
I was near there today with some friends just touring on sleds and stooped to watch the high mark and left around 2 herd the avalanche happened 30/1hr later.

3 in one day!!!! thats too many, that should be the season count
we should require a AVY 1 Class for enter the BC and the gear with certification on how to use it

It knda does seem that way, the funny thing is snowmobilers get caught in avalanches more often than anybody else, yet none of em seem to get it...

With the advent of new, easier to use gear and the increasing popularity of the BC over resorts, the trend of avalanche deaths will most likely only increase. It's sad, and the only way you can fight this is to get the knowledge, pay attention, and influence those around you to do so as well.

There are always going to be idiots going places that they should not without the proper gear or knowledge, and the saddest part is others who do know what they are doing and did not make the same mistake can get killed as well.

Please, please, please educate yourself. There are free Level 1 Avy classes everywhere, forecasting is available for many areas, and the gear is very cheap compared with a life.
