How do you think the Avs will fare this season. Anyone think they have too much second tier guys and not enough first tier?

he is talking about the hockey team, but you are a Cubs fan so sports don't come that easy to you

shit i wished yours added up to something. let me fuck with your karma (in a positive way) to see if i can get something cool out of it.

Calgary and edmonton look decent, rounding out the top 3 i think the canucks will actually surprise alot of people this season. Minnesota lost whatever little firepower they had left, and with contract talks between the wild and gaborik slowly deteriorating the future is looking bleak for them.. and all i have to say about colorado is damn.... that goaltending is gonna kill anychance the avalanche have of making it to the post season.

NW Division predictions

1.Calgary

2.Vancouver

3.Edmonton

4.Minnesota

5.Colorado.

This does'nt make any sense. The Avs were #1 last year, all we lost was Theodore, and Budaj has a better win % than him. It is pretty much the same team as last year, so much young awesome talent too. The Avs are going to kick ass for awhile with TJ Hensick, Paul Stastny, and a healthy Svatos!!

sorry what? number one? pretty sure minnesota won the division, and an unproven Budaj who is essentially still a large question mark, with toronto's garbage in Raycroft to back him up. Offense threat is pretty much the only thing you got going for you in my opinion... its gonna be close Division as usual but i stick by my predictions, probably somewhere in the same area lastyear where 10 points seperates first place in the div with last.

for some reason the whole northwest division is not as good this season as they have been in the past.

the hockey news and a bunch of other sites are giving colorado and the other teams c to d ratings
what happened to the 98 avs? used to be my favorite team...

the avs have great young talent and with the mix of veterans and young players they are most likly heading for success in the future, beside with edmonton, calgary, and the canucks... struggling to get back to past glory avs should be in the mix once again..... AVS 4 LIFE./.... GO AVS

I think Minnesota, Calgary and Vancouver will all battle it out for the division title. Minnesota always finds a way to do well, mainly because they are a defense first team with solid goaltending. Gaborik will be back for at least part of this year, and if he departs (they won't let him just walk away, if he doesn't sign, he'll be involved in a deadline deal) they should get someone who can at least make up for some of his scoring. With Bouchard and Burns both poised to have career years (Burns will win a Norris trophy in his career, by the way) the Wild will definitely be competing for the Division title.

The Flames are solid as always, and if I had to pick a winner for the division, it'd be them. Kiprusof, Iginla and Phaneuf are all top tier players and the rest of the team fills out nicely.

Vancouver will always be competetive with Luongo, and Demitra will complement the scoring of the Sedin twins.

Colorado and Edmonton will battle it out for 4th/5th in the division, and will probably just miss the playoffs. Colorado is weak in goal and Sakic is getting old. Edmonton is just too young to be able to count on, but I'd say they're the wild card in the division. If the young players step up and play like vets, the Oilers could finish higher than 4th.

Sparknotes: 1. Calgary

2. Minnesota

3. Vancouver

4. Oilers

5. Colorado

i'll give credit where credit is due, i do believe brent burns will definetly be a force to be reckoned with eventually, with that said losing both demitra and rolston in the off-season and no one to take pressure off miko koivu and marian glassorik ( i think he will make it about half way thru the seasons before his pesky groin injuries show up) i have a hard time believing that minnesota will be be able to put up a positive Goals for/ Goals against. and i think they very well maybe in the same position as the canucks were last season. great defensive depth and a good back-stopper in backstrom, but once again have a hard time believing they will be putting up enough offensive numbers.
