So I know that there a few universities out west that have official freestyle ski teams. Anybody know what this is like? I go to school in New England and the closest thing to it is the ski club which involves no training/practice or competitions; it's just go to the mountain and ski (which personally I love). But despite all of this I wish there was an easier way to be as involved in skiing as I normally am when I am at home (Hitting dry slopes, trampolining, etc.) and being able to compete. As a person with a lot of school work and no car on campus the time and effort I put towards skiing has significantly decreased. I go to the mountain occasionally and hit rails on campus sometimes. I know a lot of people do not like the idea of skiing being a competitive thing, but I think it would be cool to see collegiate freestyle ski teams across the nation. I know its difficult to have it be a team sport due to the individual style of most competitions, but I could see it working if certain schools had rail jams/slopestyles/big airs at local mountains, and then schools could be awarded points based on how their competitors placed. If anybody has any thoughts on his this could possibly ever work post below.
