Colleges...

so my parents want me to start thinking what I want to do in life and what college I want to get in and so on. the question is what colleges are you are looking to get into/are in, what you are majoring in. benefits of the colleges, extracurricular activities, etc.

be aware that 85% of the responces to this are going to be colleges based on skiing. Im going to UMASS lowell next year for engineering. they have a great engineering program.

I go to penn state for engineering. They have are one of the top three universities for my intended major of civil engineering and are overall an excellent engineering school. There is a great party scene here and football games are some of the most fun you can ever have. There are alot of great benefits and basically every club imaginable here, not to mention the snowboarding club which is awesome.

I love everything about school except the lack of big mountains around to ski at. I still am able to go skiing 2-3 times per week, but I only get to do park skiing. Ultimately, I picked a better education over skiing when I chose to go here instead of Utah.

I go to Boston Univeristy currently. I love it its got tons to do because its in boston and its not too far from skiing on campus they have a million things to do like clubs and stuff.

I go to WPI, its in worcester so im kind of in a city which is nice, and boston's really close and thats the place to be if your in college. College is a blast, there are so many things to do, and living on your own is just such an awesome feeling. As far as majors go, im almost done with my freshman year and im still undecided. You don't have to know exactly what you want to do before you go to college, because realistically no one knows.

ill be a freshman at penn state next year, and im pretty pumped i cant wait to go to my first football game at beaver stadium. as far as skiing is concerned there, oh well ill have to deal with it because education is my main priority and skiing will be second.

Don't worry too much about majors yet, just make sure the school you pick has a variety of things you might be interested in.

im going to northeastern for marketing. i really liked it because it has a co op program which will give u a year and a half resume by the time you graduate. it has a really good business school on top of that too and its right in the heart of boston. so sick

Beaver Stadium is going to have the highest capacity of any stadium next year. Fucking stupid people wanted more wheelchair seats in Michigan Stadium and somehow it lowered the capacity 1300 seats. I'm so pissed about it. They add 130 wheelchair seats and took out 1300 regular seats. Those people in wheelchairs better be pretty fucking handicapped or else they will be by the end of the game. They should have to pay 10 times as much for tickets too. Its ridiculous.

haha, it was like on the bus today. There were two people in wheel chairs, and they took up the space of 5 seats each while everyone else stood.

I realize they have to get around too and have a right to use public transit, but its annoying how much space it uses up.

I'm finishing my first semester at Sir WIlfred Grenfell College (Memorial university) in Newfoundland. It definitely is a good school, but kind of remote. It's a small campus, and class sizes are pretty small compared to other places, which is nice. Also Marble Mountain is a 10 minute drive from the campus which is in Corner Brook. Marble is probably one of the better east coast hills, at least in Canada. It has 1700' vertical, 16 foot average snowfall every year, lots of steeps and bump runs, This year the park kind of sucked, but it is supposed to be upgraded drastically next year, and rumour has it we are getting a new groomer specifically for the park and a park pass. Student Season Passes are $160 CDN plus tax, so I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal than that. Also about an hours drive away is Gros Morne National Park, where there are numerous bowls that are pretty much always entirely untracked and have obscene amounts of powder sometimes. There is also Cat skiing (about $300 a day, 15 runs I believe) in the Blow Me down Mountains, which are even closer to Corner Brook.)
The College is geared toward Arts and Environmental Science/studies. There is a good Fine arts program for Visual arts and Theatre, Solid Environmental Science programs and an Outdoor Pursuits degree which is geared toward experience in outdoor activities, especially Kayaking, canoeing, Telemark skiing, X country skiing and winter camping. The website is www.swgc.mun.ca if you are interested in more information. Tuition and housing is very cheap, even for international students.

Central Oregon Community College in Bend, OR. 30 minutes from Bachelor, and transfer programs to tons of other universities in OR WA ID.

Mt. Hood Community College. Guess.

College of the Siskyous in Weed, CA, right next to Mt. Shasta (Booter's Ball in Corduroy?)

I go to the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. I came here deciding between the accounting and mechanical engineering programs (I entered as an accountant but took a couple engineering classes), but now I'm switching my major to economics and trying to transfer.

I thought Penn State's civil program was ranked 19th? I almost went there for mechanical.

Ummm it might be I guess I didnt specify it was top three for research, maybe not undergrad, but it is really exciting to see the stuff that they are working on.

im trying to decide between St. Lawrence U and U of Vermont. im really comfortable with SLU just because ive been there a lot because my mom is alum, and i love the school. but UVM has better skiing oppurtunities (i think) and is more of a party school plus i like burlington more than canton. sooooooo i dont know......

My top choice as of now is Penn State for aerospace engineering.

BTW, football games in Beaver are insane. Even being at the far side away from the student section is better than almost anything else I've experienced. In fact, I think I've been to two games in my life that have been better than any experience at Penn State (DC United and my HS hockey team). Being in the senior section must be pure bliss.

I go to northeastern too. But for chem engineering. It's pretty awesome i absolutely love it here being in the city and not being too far from skiing.

I'm really into econ and international relations/ poli sci so I'm going to Claremont Mckenna next year. It's a top 15 liberal arts college, and its 45 minutes to skiing. (admittedly nothing on utah or CO, but still...)

If you don't know what you want to do. Do not go to college. You will be paying to wait in line.

going to Syracuse/SUNY ESF next year. GREAT benefits and a fantastic landscape architecture program. gonna be awesome!

Hopin to get into UCSC (thats santa cruz)

Its right on the ocean. pretty much the awesomest..

If I dont get in, then fuck it, i'll go to UNR, woot. :)

USCS is dope... i almost went there... but then i went to Chico st....(which is fuckin awesome as well) and it actually is an arboretum... like the founders of the school were plant/tree lovers and the entire campus is an arboretum.... sooooo sick... its beautiful here... and only 2 hours from tahoe so cant really complain with that

Umm that's dumb, if you can afford to go to college and have nothing else you want to do you should go and take whatever classes look interesting and odds are you are much more likely to figure out what you want to do while going to college than while living with your parents and working at some shitty job.

damn. mad rich kids going to private school. not hating but state colleges make more sense for the first 2 years.

well i'm going to the navy and getting 40,000 after i graduate for college and free college while i'm in there so i'm undecided. i have a few years to choose the best criminal justice school for me
