As asac said, the U of U. Its 30 minutes from Park City, Canyons, Deer Valley, Alta, Brighton, Snowbird and Solitude. Powder Mountain is close too, but I've never been there, so I cant really say. Plus there is tons of urban around here.

VIVA LA FRONTFLIP!

Western Washington University- It's in Bellingham, WA, just under an hour away from Mt. Baker which gets dumped on, a couple hours away from Whistler B.C., oh and speaking of B.C. its about 25 minutes away from the border for all of you 19 year olds without fake ID's...it's a rad campus, I absolutely love it there, so much to do.

Colorado Mtn. College. They have schools at Aspen,Breckenridge,Vail,Steamboat Springs, and a couple other places. Not the best education , but they're right at the mountains. Also there is CU which is about an hour and a half to two hours from breck, copper, keystone, and vail.

yeah thats a shitty ass school though, Id rather just not go to school and be a ski bum than go to that shitty school.

UBC is the higest ranked school out of those mentioned (if that matters at all), and the closest to Whistler... it's pretty demanding, though, so you might for some reason want to go to SFU for relatively less schoolwork.

I went to Western State last semester, and I must say that it has the best atomsphere. Crested Butte is close, and the backcountry is sick as all heck up there. Kebler Pass always has hits built by other people and they are usually really decent. CB's park is really shaping up too!

Bishops is within 30 minutes of 5 or 6 little hills and 45 minutes away from Jay Peak. Also, the drinking age is 18, which can be considered a plus. Also, from what people have told me they set up a rail course on their golf course in the winter for people to session.

SFU is in Burnaby, not Vancouver, but from SFU to Whistler is all highway, no city driving, so you're going quickly the whole way. It can be a BITCH to get through downtown and out to the mountains from UBC at some points in the day, so I guess the question is, what time do you plan to ski? Either way, it's not really that long a drive.

yeah UBC is good but it can be really demanding, when I went there for two years I never went to class and did nothing but ski at Whis and the shitty ass local mountains which ultimately led to me flunking out, now I'm at a shitty college in Victoria, well done me

ella you would definitely get into middlebury, and you get a free pass to snow bowl (haha) but it is close to mrg and the bush. and if you just say you're my sister you can get free tuition

ubc is not that close to whis, but the night skiing at grouse and seymour are sick too. whats the closest to hood you can get, and how far is it.

Some more options are Sierra Nevada College, it is in Tahoe, but is a very small school. I was doing the same as you last year and I ended up deciding to go to UBC. You do wanna go somewhere close to mountains so you can ride right after classes, but if you are looking to go to a good school (which is sounds like you are), you will actually have to do some work to stay there and probably won't be able to ride everyday after classes. For me I decided on somewhere with good riding for weekends even if a it is a bit of a drive and a good education. As much as you probably don't want to, keep the education in mind.

Check out UBC, gorgeous campus, Whistler is hour and a half to two hours away and you've got two mountains that I think are 30-45 minutes away.

Join me in Whistler from June 20-26... it's gonna kick! :)

is it mad hard to get into middlebury?

no snow..

no girls..

no future..

Yea its pretty tough. i'm pretty sure i could get in, but i sort of want to go out west... Basically i want a pretty good school, close to a mountain, that isnt disgustingly small... or religious (sorry if that offends anyone) Anyone know of a college?

You are definitely right on wanting to go out west, its so much better out in the west. I grew up in Connecticut and went to school in Boulder and its just amazing out there. Everything is different, and if your a real active person, than boulder is a good place to start. Almost everyone is reaaal into a sport, (mtn biking, road biking, climbing, skiing, list goes on...) and its a real fun place to be to. You juts gotta find where you fit in. I went cuz the engineering program is rated really well in the country, top 25 i think, maybe top 20.

yeah, boston does not count as 'close' to vermont. 2 hour drive can be done, but isn't 'oh i feel like going skiing today' material.

i'm suprised that noone has mentioned champlain college in burlington. smaller than UVM, it's a really nice place. beautiful campus, they're building even more stuff..... it's on the top of my list when i start applying to colleges in the fall...... check it out.

and burlington is acutally close to Jay peak, i think it took me a little less than an hour to get there......

yeah im looking to go to the emily carr institute in Van. anyone go there or know if its good or not?

*And for the fragile force of an agile horse, here's a handful of very special chocolate chips.*

Montana State University. Bridger Bowl is 20 minutes from campus, Big Sky is about 45 minutes to an hour. Easier access to ski areas than if you live in the big city.

no dude, I went to western for 2 years, that shit gets old. Same people, same parties, only 2,500 students. In gunnison you're completly cut off from civilization, you won't be driving to summit county at all, you may think about it but it's just too fucking far. plus cb rapes students up the ass for a pass compared to other pass deals at other areas. The schooling at western is alright I guess. It's cheap too. Also, everyone quit calling CU UC.

'It was probably the most improved park in north america last year. That's mostly due to us getting up at fucking 8 am everyday and raking like monkeys, untill we were to baked to talk. Every now and then some texan would eat shit and it would be funny and we would call ski patrol on our radios. we would steal food from the base and cook it on our grill, then heckle people on the lift with our mega phone while we played frisbee across the run. and took naps behind the shack in the most exclusive hut on the mountain. o christ, best winter ever.'

I know an FU, my half uncle goes to it. its' called Fairfield University. The ppl at the stands of games go FU FU FU!!!!

Take me to your special place,

Close your eyes show me your face............I'm gonna piss on it

^ and then they realize they're a bunch of losers.
