Colleges in Colorado?

I have been looking into colorado for college and I was just wondering what people in here think about places like Western State, CSU in Fort Collins and Northern Colorado. Also, which colleges are closest to good skiing? Any help would be appreciated.
 
Fort Collins is a real nice school, just about anyone who goes there will really like it.

However, resort skiing is 3+ hours from there.

Univ. of Northern Colorado will pretty much kill any hope you have of skiing because its much to far away, the town also smells.

If you want to ski non stop go to CMC steamboat/breck , western state is crazy or CU/ CU Denver
 
its more like 2 hours to go skiing if you leave at the right time and it depends where your going. plus csu is the shit
 
anybody in here live/go to school in boulder? how is it getting to the mountains from there? i'm looking at college there and i would be taking lots of classes in the fall and almost no classes during the winter, so i would be riding probably 5 days a week.
 
CSU is pretty sweet. about 2 to 2:30 hours to skiing depending on traffic and where you go. chill vibe, more comfortable than CU (in my opiniion as CU likes to think they're hot shit, even though both schools are similar academically). oh, and it's not full of yuppies, which boulder is stocked with. smaller new school scene, but there's enough of us here that you'll be fine if you meet the right people.
 
if you can get in go to DU or CU. I go to CSU and I love it, but its far from skiing. CU despite what everyone says is not full of yuppies, i go there a decent amount and everyone is chill. And it has a way bigger population of freeskiers. And DU is sick becuase its in Denver which is fucking so much fun.
 
how is it not full of yuppies? so many kids there whos parents buy them anything they want and havent had a hard days work in their lives. it also cost like 8000 more per year than CSU. DU is cool though, if youthink DU is the right fit for you, i say go for it.
 
no its not full of yuppies i am there a decent amount, people are very chill. you will get the yuppie factor but thats at every university. The town of boulder is also probally the sweetest place ever too. oh yeah dont go to UNC its a dirty town just doesnt have good vibes. DU is probally my fav though, but CSU offered me a scholarship so im here, and it is sweet, FYI FO CO can be extremely boring without a car. western state is probally the best if you plan on skiing everyday cuase you can basically spit and hit c-butttt haha
 
C fuckin U, hotties and skiin close by, plus decent education. Waht more could you ask for??????????????????????
 
ya an i noticed that there were hot ass girls there. there is skiing 15 minutes away and i've heard its a good school. I don't go there but it looks pretty damn good to me
 
i was just reminded by three girls that came up to visit me from CU, that Cu has so many hot chicks, so that deffinitely blows away the yuppie factor. FoCo is managable wothout car, you just can't be lazy and love to bike (which can be a hassel if you need to bring your skis into a shop), and have to meet the right people to get rides to the mountains.
 
also while yuppies may annoy you how they show no respect and reponsiblity for money, they also may have cabins, townhouses, and condos in summit county, which is nice to stay in instead of getting up early to get to the mountains every morning.
 
There are an incredible amount of threads on this website about CU in particular. I'm kinda tired of defending it. I can get to A Basin, Loveland, Keystone, and Winter Park in less than 1 hour and 30 minutes. I also ski backcountry in the Indian Peaks which are about 30 minutes away.

i am going to a Colorado School of Mines, it is awsome, closer to skiing (but not that much), can still go to Boulder and Denver easily, and it is probably one of the best educations you could get in the state
 
CU's engineering school is more selective than CSMs. Im applying to both, but CSM is practicaly begging me to go there by sending me a 'Golden Scholar Application'. If CU accepts me im going to their engeneering school for Aerospace engineering. Also CSM sounds kinda like a sausage fest.
 
CU's engineering school is exclusively engineering also. Thats how a University works. It is a bunch of colleges on one campus. Universities are more diverse and more fun. But whatever works for you.
 
CSM is much more selective than CU, i was preselected into both (and CSU), CU just like to think they are and acts like it on the tour. there's a reason CSM is one of the top 5 engineering programs in the country.
 
I went to the CU engineering open house and they said they were more selective but i guess they could be a little bias. Anyway, Im interested in Aerospace and CUs aerospace progam is way better. I dont even think CSM has aerospace.
 
look what each program actually is, i.e. what class do you take, cause it is very possible to become involved in the aerospace industry without the specific engineering major, espcially from a school of CSMs caliber. and just because thy're more selective doesn't mean they're better, CSM typically has a better student applying for their school anyway so they may not need to be as selective.
 
boulder is a fun town and yuppies go hand in hand w/ colleges so if thats what will turn you a way than idk where you'l want to go
 
I realize you dont need to have an engineering specific major to get into the aerospace industry. I have an internship at Lockheed Martin and many have come from CSM and some have come from CU. Both colleges put out, I just think CU has better vibes, better girls, better campus, better town, better urbans, etc.
 
yeah it does but i did not really like big schools and its not like golden is that far from Boulder
 
haha...CSM is like 80 percent dudes, and they are all enginerds, so not alot of partying...There are a bunch of silly hoes in Boulder. You gotta live on the hill though bro. Fuck all the other schools in the state. Boulder is the best, seriously. FOCo is a fucking farm town, and DU is sweet if you are into a bunch of douchebags who pay 35 g a year for tuition. CU is rad man. I mean if you had to go to college, why not party your ass off while you are there right? I dont know, those are my two pennies, take it how you want.
 
haha, for out of state, CU is almost as much as DU. FoCo isn't a farm town, though it is limied with activities, and some idiots ranked it the number 1 place to live in america. now greely is farm town, and it smells, i suggest people stay away from smelly greely.
 
dude, anything is better than Indiana and also CSM gets you a really well respected engineering degree that will get you a high paying job right out of college

right, i got my see me ski degree already, for sure, but cmc isnt a real college, it might be the biggest joke of an education ever. It does work out pretty well though, just gotta plan that shit
 
Yeah CSM is a solid school, I have had solid industry connections and internships since I was a freshman. Its a solid education. Its not easy nor are there girls. If you want to party it up, go else where. I mean we throw parties on weekends, but not 100 person keggers every night. If its what you want, and are willing to sacrifice some social time to pay off later its cool.
 
Say what you want, a CU boulder degree will probably be more recognized by most in the business world than a CSU one. That being said, CU's B-school is top 15 or something in public u's in the nation.

Skiing: To the kid who said skiing was 15 mins away - maybe if it snows enough on the flatirons...

Otherwise, its between 45-1hr30, up to 6 if you wanna drive way out into the mountains.

just make friends with fellow snow-lovers, and you'll have a great time.

UNC is on the rise actually. Rated as one of the best business schools in the US. The business school is funded by the Monforts, who own the Rockies, and has some of the best facilities around. The teaching programs are very highly thought of as well. I am a recent grad of UNC, and I can tell you that all of the farms are moving out of town due to the fact that Weld County was one of the fastest growing in the nation in the last year. Ya, its not the closest to the mountains, but I make the trip up every weekend, and it surely beats the trip I had to make from Phoenix to find any snow!
 
CU's awesome. UNC is easy, but greeley sucks and smells like asshole. CSU is an ok school but pretty far away from the skiing. Boulder isn't really loaded with hippies, its just our hippies are pretty vocal. If people say that boulders only loaded with hippies is cause Pearl Street is the only place they've ever been in boulder and have no idea what the fuck is going on and how chill boulder is. The Freeskiing scene is insane down here too. Just walk around campus after is snows and you can see people hitting urbans everywhere.
