Colleges around vermont.. any info is appreciated !

i am seriously considering transfering to college in vermont but am pretty clueless about the schools ... can you guys help me out ?i'm really curious about the skiing/party scene/ size

the only school i really know of up there are uvm and castleton but i'm sure there has to be a ton more ..

any help and info is greatly appreciated !
 
UVM.

Nuff said. Sick school, sick skiers, sick downtown scene, awesome parties, 40 minutes from Stowe. What else do you need?
 
UMV is nice

Middlebury is a much better school, they also have their own ski mountain (although its not anything great, they use it for their racing and practicing, but its also close to the normal ski mountain), the only other school that has this is Dartmouth. if your looking for a great school academically, then middlebury should be your first chioce
 
thanks for the suggestions, i'll def look into them. I think i looked at uvm but i don't think they had my major (marketing)
 
Lyndon State is practically in my home town... everyone knocks it cause it's the local school but it's really not bad at all. Both of my parents went there and my dad designs their viewbook. Burke is right near by and has an incredible mountain biking scene (pros, unreal dirtjumps, an IMBA "Epic Rides" trail system, and plans for some more DH trails) and also is a developing mountain with a pretty decent little park and is pretty much a ghost town (mid-week powder days with only around 20-30 people there total). Jay peak is only a 40 minute drive and has the best pow pow in the state. The school also has a well rooted ski-area management program.
 
if you head slightly north... you could go to bishops, its in Quebec but is pretty close to the border, it's within an hour or so of a ton of hills. Tuition is around $10000 for americans, it's just not that big of a school, like 2000-3000 people. And if you really want to you can come to Montreal on a busoh and the drinking age is 18...
 
check out McGill in Montreal if you have the grades. Or Concordia University is also right in MTL and is easier to get into.
 
i go to uvm too, my brother goes to middlebury. the tuition is so expensive there because its like an all inclusive resort. at uvm you pay for a meal plan, different prices for different styles of housing, etc. "a la carte" may i say. middlebury's dining halls are open, you can eat as much as you want whenever you want. housing is all equally priced from shitty doubles to ballin suites. i dunno, when it comes to price midd is super expensive, but you end up paying a decent amount at other places (like uvm) for similar experiences.

id check out UVM though, its a good size so you can meet people, and if you dont like them youre not forced to hang out with them because of a small student body. its pretty socially diverse, if you look hard enough you can always find people with simliar interests. the mountains are all in like an hour radius, excluding jay which is like 1:15. geographically uvm and champlain have the same things going for them; burlington, lake champlain and sweet skiing. a vt college experience is definitely a good one
 
this is awesome, for reall, i really appreciate all the responses . a few questions for uvm is 19,000 total with housing and what not included ? and do u know if it is much higher for out of state students ?

then does anyone know about the size / cost of champlain ?
 
UVM is not 19,000/yr but rather 19 g's a semester. For an out of state student, you're looking at around 38-40k a year. A scholarship definitely helps out a lot. I used to hate on it b/c i am from Burlington area and wanted to get out of here for a while. But after going to school at Northeastern in Boston for a year, I like UVM a lot better. Never knew how much I would miss skiing down there. Ive just been taking continuing ed classes since the summer and only pay like 8k a semester since i am an in state student. The quality of the classes is much better than what i experienced at NEU and the teachers are so much more helpful. I still want to be going to school in Montreal for this upcoming fall, but anyone from out of state would love UVM.
 
I am a marketing major at UVM. Its just not called that. You major in Business Administration with a CONCENTRATION in Marketing. So its practically the same thing. Trust me.
 
UVM is fucking legit, but obviously a little more expensive than any other schools. I would say Champlain or St. Mikes would be a comparable option otherwise, good location for partying/skiing/etc..

Others that people havent mentioned: Burlington College and that other crunchy school Trey went to. both are ridiculously small
 
Yea, listen to this guy. I'm a management major, with a discipline in Management and the Environment. The business school is really helpful, too.
 
i go to johnson state college. its pretty easy, its got some fun parties, and everyone knows eachother. its a really good time. ive visited big schools like uvm or uconn but you see someone one day and never see them again. johnsons also 25 mins from smuggs, 35 to stowe, and 50 to jay and bolton valley.
