I kno alot of u guys on this site are in college to so i bet uve experienced this. the first 3 weeks of college and the livings easy , parties , classes being canceled , such freedom its great. Then all of a sudden u have a test monday and uve done none of the reading and it counts for 20% of your grade. what the crap. to make it better all of ur teachers have decided to do this too , AND ur boss decided he needs you more at work. Right now college is truly setting in

but its still hella fun

haha! takin' 2 honors courses, 18 credit hours altogether as a freshmen (international on top of that)+20 hours of work a week...I have gone to ZERO parties so far, but I've written about 20 papers already :)

I'm in THE most stupid english class ever! I'm supposed to have the first chapter of 1984 read byt tuesday. I haven't even bought the book. Thank God for spark notes, and my math homework backs up really easily and my english prof. is an idiot and just assigns shitty ass busy work that makes no sense whatsoever. I still think it's better than high school

did that make any sense?

I never read it, but last year someone in my english class in high school read it, so I had a bunch of notes on it, and the other books to choose were stupid. I figure most people had read it in high school but i didn't so i might as well read it this year

take it easy guys, its first term frosh year. i agree, the tests are a bastard, but if you manage to get the reading done you'll be set.

i'm at a supposedly socially dead campus (bunch of nerds) and im having a great time, its all about time management.

go to a big school where the teachers have no idea who you are, its way easier that way, you just have to cram more before tests

 
Theres plenty of time to party, work, ski or whatever and keep up with the readings...unless you're an engineer. Read a chapter or two a day, and relax.

Whoever studies all the time and never parties does so of their own volition. I don't care what school you go to, you can get a 3.0 and drink 5 nights a week. If you have any desire to study EVER then you can go out literally every night by doing a minimal amount of work a couple days a week in the afternoon or morning. Or just do all your work on Sunday and make it to every class and you will be set. It is currently 2:40 in the morning and I am writing a paper that is due in 7 hours, but I am not complaining bacause I enjoyed myself all week and worked all day today. So quit your bitching and have a little fun for Christ's sake. We didn't give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

whoever was complaining about 18 hours of classes, suck my dick buddy, I have 25 hours of classes, alond with every other science student at my school. It's all good though, university kicks ass. I managed to party friday and sat night and still have the 2 labs I had due monday done. The only complaint I have is that no one ever goes to be before midnight and it's messing up my morning classes.

i too an stressed with mass classes, but never 25 hr's. i HAVE to take 16-21+ each quarter for 4 years. ive never got less than 16 and rarely do i have only 16, its usually up at 19

I have on average 28.5 hrs of school a week because my labs alternate, and everyone of those courses are hard and or time consuming. I'd say I do about an average of approximatelly 20 hrs of school work outside of class and lab time. Sooo, do yourself and me a favour and don't go into engineering.

^No kidding... here, that would be fairly light for engineering. I know someone who has one COURSE that accounts for 22 hours per week, including labs. Altogether, he's at about 40 hours.

i have 16.5 hours a week, and fridays off, so i have a pretty kick ass timetable. my only complaint is my 9:30 am class on monday.

but i totally understand the fact that it's at this point where university/college really sets in...only now am i beginning to realize that there is work to be done...

yeah, college is not fun right now..let's see...paper due thurs. and 2 papers due friday. i have to go home (i live like 25 min away) and work tues and thurs. from about 5pm-9:30/10:00-ish. so thurs is gonna suck super bad. and yeah, i didnt really read the books, so i went and got cliffnotes instead. plus i ahve to have a book (that i'm half-way finished w/) completely read by wed....not fun at all. but then after this week, life will be good again cuz we have a 4-day weekend adn my roommate and i are going away for the weekend.

ye im pullin the no sleep thing too , i took the test and i think i did ok , but i had photolab later that night and some asswipe ruined my whole reel when he turned the lights on while i was trying to put my film on the reel , so now im behind 2 projects , ive been writing a paper sence sunday thats due in 3 hours and then i have a statistics test at 8 2mmmmorow , but it should be cool and everything calm down after this week

haha dude i bust out a 10 page paper with a work cited page the day before its due, starting at around 9pm. shit it only takes me like 2 hrs to write 10 pages, and i suck in english. just bust it out with any story and keep grammer 100% correct. thats all they look for is sentence structure and grammer.

the 18 hours were just class time....outside of thta I work 20 hours to earn money and approx another 25 to 30 on my assignments...I wish I could go with a 3.0 but I need to maintain a 3.75 for scholarships and since I wanna transfer to columbia or yale, I pretty much need a 4.0

oh shit -=koLLac=-, that is real serious. I pay every cent I make from skiing and working toward school and my parents pay for the rest. My school doesn't give academic scholarships and I prolly wouldn't be eligible for one anyway, so i have to pay forty G's a year. 3.75 is much better than I do, but skiing professionally and going to school full time keeps your plate full. I somewhat pulled it off last year, but it ain't easy. This year, my backyard changes from Bates College to Mammoth Mtn come December tho. Taking a semester off is gonna be so $, baby.

It's not that bad once your in the capstone courses. I just finished up my core classes last semester. They were so much fun and actually rewarding. Now i'm taking worthless gen ed's so I can graduate this dec. I swear my professors are trying to fail everybody just to make a point that gen ed's are easy.

is it bad when you don't have half your books and the semester is almost halfway finished? i just did a test the other day on 2 chapters of a book i don't have and didn't study for and i got 87% so happy. It sucks though half my teachers are slack and the others are so hard on marking, for my math class i can get half the questions wrong and some how still get full marks
