Ok it just now hit me, a week after my high school graduation that next year is going to really really suck... thinking back, i blew so much money on ski stuff, and now my mom and i were all talking tonight and she told me that all the money i earn this summer is pretty much my spending money next year.. then she said,'i dont even know how you're gonna afford to ski'.. SCREW THAT! anyone in the b-ham area that i can bum with?!

to the point of my rant though, anyone in college have the same problem of bad shopping habits with skiing and the whole college thing?! PLEASE HELP!

welcome to my world brookie. You'll soon learn that money is not spent unless it is on skiing, gas for the drive to skiing, sometimes food, or alcohol. But you're a girl so you can always scam your way out of paying for alcohol. have fun!

Same situation for a lot of us here. I spent so much on skiing this year, a trip to whis, gear, gas and lift tickets. I think Im gonna quit my current job just to get more money for college.

yeah, its called learn to scam free shit out of shops. my dad does all the ski purchasing for about 40 or so kids on my local mountains racing team so i just help him out and whatever i want from the shop i get pretty much for free.

OK I made it through 4 years of college while never working during the winter at all. I managed to ski a lot especially considering I had to travel for school every Jan and Feb. The best way to make sure you dont blow all your money is to divide it up. First of all your books are gonna cost you a few hundred bucks at least. Get two bank accounts, a checking account with ATM you use and then a savings account or something where it takes more effort to get at your money (less likely to spend it) So divide your money by the number of semesters...take a few hundred each time for books out, that will give you an idea of how much you have to spend a month. Then place only one months spending money in the checking account at a time, that way you cant blow all your money the first month into school. Live cheap, eat on campus instead of going out all the time, or if the kids next door buy a pizza or something just happen to stop by and take some of theirs.

Man its great to not have to live like a dirt bag anymore haha.

be a golf caddy at the nicest country club you can find and you can ski as much as you want. those jobs flipping burgers suck. YOu make at least 40 bucks a round. Each round will be about 4 hours, 10 bucks an hour which is good money.

I was so broke this winter, all my money went to ski clothes, lift tickets, hotels, or gas and food. I barely sepnt mone yon anything else all school year. And I did the same thing as you Brokke. Had to work all summer and that was all the mone yI had. About $2100 for 8 months. Same thing next year, only I will have about $1600 because I owe my parents alot of money for school. But I have all my gear, and I wont need to buy a season's pass at my local hill because I know all the lifties and the patrol, so its all good.

I have some friends going to WWU but they snowboard but there cool to skiers like me and some other friends. They will be go to Baker alot. Im going to Montana State though.

He's the best there is! (Actually he's the only one there is.)

 
the most posh job to have at shcool is being a TA for some class, i was one last semester, 10 an hour, they put in 5 hrs a week even tho i worked about 1 on average... best free money ever.
