College majors

Anyone in college or going soon, what are you majoring in? Im thinkin bout goin engineering open option but i have no idea.. why did you pick it too..
 
I was pre-med and athletic training last year and that was not for me, so I thought about what I liked and took some classes this year and have decided that next fall, when start at St Mikes, I'll be a political science major with a global studies minor. I picked them because I'm very interested in politics and my way of thinking about most issues starts, in my head, at the international level.
 
My major is computer science. Just declared last week. They gave me a t-shirt and took my picture. It felt like I was being drafted.

As for a minor, I was thinking something like film or psych.
 
Public Relations...but I dont know what I want to do with it yet!! I have to get my journalism pre-recs out of the way first though.
 
if you want to make good money, then engineering, computer science, etc. are definetly legit majors. and if you go to any sort of reputable school, these aren't cakewalk degrees either so i think there's defeintly a degree of respect attached to these diplomas.

for the business department, accounting and omis are the most reasonable choices. demand is high, pay is pretty good. don't do marketing or any other bullshit like that.

avoid any degree that requires graduate school, pre-med, pre-law, etc. you can still pick up an education in a different study and apply to these schools. pre-law is offered where i go to school, but i'm majoring in accounting and planning on going to law school - if i can get through these last fucking years.

and if you're thinking of a communications major you should probably save yourself the effort later on when you're sucking dick for a bowl of soup, and kill yourself now. that, or switch.
 
anyone a bio major? i met this guy that was one and lived in colorado and he had the most kickass job ever. he was tellin me about how for the last month he was traveling around looking for bald eagles. im sure theres alot more to it just sounded sweet and i was wonderin if anyone knew more about that field.
 
im seriously looking into enviornmental engineering, or something that could help me get into alternative energy stuff.

i took a class last year and learned tons about stuff that actually interested me and made me want to learn more.

i'd also like to look into some kind of like broadcasting or radio type stuff. i wanna learn a little more about it though becaise i don't know much.
 
I'm an accounting major at a pretty good school and I think its great. I started out as an engineer and it wasn't my thing so I switched. Everyone gave me shit cause business is "easy" and engineers "make more money", but I have an internship lined up and will probably end up working for a company that will pay just as much or more than any engineering firm and i'm going to be able to travlel the world doing consulting work for the worlds top firms. So if you do accounting things can be great if you make sure and get good grades and take all the opportunities that are available to you.
 
Im having a tough choice. I was set on going into engineering, but after hearing how rigorous the curriculum is and how hard one must work, i am reconsidering. Anyone a sophmore engineer and have any thoughts about the rigor of it?
 
im signed up for graphic design...but thinkin about switching to elementary education...being a teacher would be really rewarding n such.

...ya never know.
 
I'm pretty sure that successful businessmen make a lot more money than engineers do. Engineers can make a lot of money right out of college, but there isn't much leverage as there is in the business world.
 
Engineering is tough. There is a LOT of math. I'd say its worth it though. Outside of engineering you aren't gonna find many jobs that pay so much without having a graduate degree.
 
yeah well majoring in bio is just learning ecology, its evrything else, and that can be so boring, i currently just finished Bio 30 and absolutely hated it, bio 20 was real sweet cause its all ecology. And higher levels of bio ie: university major are extremly hard
 
my sister is a physical therapy major at saint louis university...she has gross anatomy this whole summer so shes got cadavers and shit to do..i guess its a good amount of work but she really likes it
 
I looking into a Major in History.. Its going to be tough. Right now I am in first year and doing quite well so yea I am god!
 
hahahaha on Monday I was sitting in some random Anthro class and my desk said "Computer Science majors are sexual tyranasaurs." I dont know exactly what that means but its awesome. (sidenote: today in the same class on a different desk it said "I am having sex tonight," "Use Trojan ribbed rubbers" and "Your life is ending one second at a time." That classroom is out of control)

As for me I'm an Anthro minor and dont know what major. I want to add communications but I dont k now.
