College Finals Week

For all of you taking finals here coming up soon, I am immensely sorry. I don't know how things have been for you guys lately, but I've been surviving off of a few hours of sleep and multiple bowls of cereal each day. I haven't seen my roommate in about three days and I think they've relocated their mattress to the library. I've had two group projects, two three-page papers, and registration this week, it's been god awful. So I thought that this thread could be a place for people to vent/rant about their lovely college experiences at the moment.

Also, to make this thread worth it:

I've made so many flash cards one hand is all cramped up the other has 3 paper cuts. Probably still fail.

I've only got two finals, but this entire week ahead of me I have the last exams in all of my classes. Currently studying my ass off.

Meh pretty chilled. If you make goods notes throughout the year instead of doing everything at the end you won't be as rushed and sleep-deprived. On that note I did 8 practice quizes and 3 practice tests for math today.

Going skiing tomorrow so I guess I'm not too worried.

Are your finals all in one week? Mine are spread over 3 weeks.

my god you know how i feel, i have stockpiled mr noodles and cereal for a solid week of studying. Also those pictures really tooted my horn. Thank you OP.

No offense, but that sounds really, really easy. So much easier than any job in the real world, and far easier than any finals I had in college.

it hasnt been too bad for me at all. ive got a bunch of chem work and a 10ish page research paper, but other than that its pretty manageable. i got all the classes i wanted for next semester too, so im in a pretty good mood and just really looking forward to my 2 month break. one of my friends has nothing due anymore and we still have a week of classes

Next week is finals week for me. This past week was hell.

We had a group project with a 25 page single spaced paper and a 15 minute presentation on Boeing. We procrastinated pretty hard and did 90% of it in the last few days. I also had a 2,000 word paper for art, and had to read a 400 page book on the great depression and do a 3 page paper on it along with another 3 page paper for history. I did all of that shit in a day's work. Everything was due within a 3 day period. Procrastination at its finest....

Next week is just cram-study and final time.

Mine wont be too be too hard, but for some reason they thought it prudent to have them on a saturday...

4 finals, 3 hours each, 100% of my grade. Curve is tough. Only 5-10% can get A's, 10-15% B's and the rest C's or failing, at least 5% must fail. Did just hand in my paper for the one class I don't have a final exam for though, so that is nice. Been in the library for 70 hours since monday. Going to the bar tonight. Back to the library tomorrow. Only two more weeks till its over!

I had a multi-disciplinary major and only ever had 1 group project and that was in an anthro class. Meanwhile my Business Admin friends had them all the time.

I am currently in grad school and TA Poli Sci, I don't know of a single prof within the department who assigns group projects.

Also 2 x 3 page papers? What sort of joke institution assigns anything shorter than 6 pages.

The only thing worse than having finals is having to grade bluebook exams and papers once finals are over. Most of the professors I work with are pretty cool about it though, buy us pizza usually and then take us out for beers once we're all done. It is a giant pain though.

Illinois Institute of Technology. #24 on Newsweek's "Most Rigorous Schools" in the country.

The class is HIST 380, 'New Deal America', so I don't feel like long ass papers were to be expected in the course....

My grandfather's phd was from IIT. I know it's an outstanding institution. The comment was half kidding.

12 pages to write for MONDAY. fuck my life. I was about to go get a beer at the on campus bar, but seeing you stressing about something due 2 days after mine... is making me stress even more. fuck.

Double spaced? Use Arial size 12, add more spaces between paragraphs and it's only like 300 words per page, so like a total of 3,600 words. I'd go out and drink tonight and rush the paper tomorrow night. Procrastination always brings out the best work.

Im spending my entire sunday in the library and going to try and bang out this bitch of a paper.

I fucking hated biochem. It's the reason I dropped microbio as my major. I think I got a 35% the second time I took it (after getting an F the first time) and that was good for a solid C. One of the final questions was outline the entire processes of glycolysis and gluconeogenesis including all enzyme names and structures. There was just far too much information they expected us to memorize and retain.

Next week last microbio exam, followed by my jazz apprecation final lol... But then finals week, 2 finals on monday, my microbio final is literally going to be impossible. Pure memorization of 50+ pages of notes, just going to be horrible. I don't think my brain is big enough to fit all the shit i have to know for that exam fuckk that.

haha we got an email from our prof the other day addressing stuff like that. for instance

13) Use Times New Roman size 12 for your font.

18) Indent your paragraphs five spaces.

19) Don't put extra white space between your paragraphs unless your word processing system does so automatically.

Since I was a lazy ungrad once I know all of the tricks. I warn the students about this in the discussion syllabus as well as on the first day and they still try to do it, and I still mark down for it.

The easiest way to make your paper longer is to change all your periods to size 14. You can get at least an extra half a page.

I got 6 finals, a personal narrative (7-10 pages so not too bad), and a engineering group case study all in the next two weeks.

Not looking forward to that...

TWO 3-pages PAPERS?! oh fuck man, and registration!!! plus group projects! holy fuck, hard week bro!!!

... you're a pussy

haha i thought the last test i had was just going to be like10 blank pieces of paper with the instructions to "draw glycolysis". Honestly though i'd be better off watching jeopardy in order to study for the tests. he asks questions about stuff he doesn't teach and we should be able to figure it out given prior knowledge. Or all his questions are to give the mechanism of this enzyme in full detail, then what happens if we put this molecule in there.

My school was quarter system. so ~30 lectures for the quarter. Each had at least 15 lecture slides FILLED with like size 14 font. At some point the information overload is just too much.

6 classes, 6 finals. all of them are pure math, mostly revolving around applied differential equations and linear algebra. sick!

One composition due tomorrow, three tests Tuesday, one final Wednesday, two finals Thursday, one final Friday, and one last final next Tuesday.

I now know why suicide is a viable option for university students.....

This semester hasn't been too hateful.

That being said, I'm at work now until 10 and have an exam at 8am tomorrow. Then 9:30am exam (in possibly my hardest class) and a paper due tuesday. Then next week an exam on monday and one on Wednesday, then off to Vermont.

yay coffee.

yo how do you do this haha. command + f, then to replace, then typing a period and then in the replace section pasting in a period of a larger font size still leaves only a size 12 period throughout the document.

you surely didn't change every period by hand did you?

On word you can do command+f and put in a . Then click 'find and replace with' Put a size 12 period in the 'find' then another size 12 period in the 'replace with'. Then click format and change the font size of the 'replace with' to 14. Then click the 'replace all' button.

Got to the library at 6 am, banging off a term project due today. 16 page literary montage with a 2 page essay to go with it. Wheeeee!

The project is on drugs though so its fun.

Fact: LSD therapy was pioneered in Vancouver, Canada.

I lied, I just spent 5 hours making flash cards. I want to sleep, and cry. I stll have to write a paper, and actually study the flash cards.

fuck semesters.

I have a 25 page paper and 20 minute presentation in my MGMT class.

I have a 20 minute presentation and test in my MKTG class.

I have two tests in both of my BA classes.

I have a test and two 4 page papers in my English class.

All of this is due by next Thursday. After all that I will only have 4 months of classes left and then I am done forever!
