i did less than hs, since collage education is more important and you paid for it, so you will spend more time studying and drinking than actually go out to ski.

I go to CU in boulder. Depending on my schedule for the semster I usually go any where from 1 to 3 times a week. I try to arange my schedule so I can have tuesdays and thursdays off. Some times I have labs on tuesday and thursdays that I cant get around. In that case I try to schedule late labs at 4 5 6 or 7 pm. So I can go skiing in the day and still make it to class. There is a lot going on in College aside from academics so its sometimes hard to get up to the mountains

thats what i figured, but i still wanna get some skiin in whenever i can

I am a full time student 15-18 credits depending on classes. I ski about 95 days a year, that's usually 6 days a week. I also ski 5 or 6 days before the hill opens and probably 10 days after it closes (sometimes more)...so I easily get in 100 days.

Going to a university that owns it's own ski hill helps my cause a little.

I've attended more than one 'ski school', for example I went to University of Utah and skied probably only 40 days, the closest hill is about 30 minutes.

Had a friend that went to Montana State in Bozeman. He skied about 50 days on better terrain, but he ended up coming back to school with me so he could ski more and still get an education.

Good luck.

you can ski a lot in college. during the season I go every saturday and sunday as a given. plus you can usually work your schedule so you have a day off during the week. if not, you'll probably have a day with like 1 lecture class you can skip. then you have the random 3 day weekends and holidays. on top of that, christmas break is always long at college, so there's a ton of time for skiin. I'd say you're better off than you were in HS as far as how much time you've got for ridin.

yeah usually if you live fairly close to a mountain you can get some decent amount of skiing in. i am going to a community college in the Tri-cities WA, we are an hour and a half away from the closest, and 2 hrs from the one i go to. anyway, we have every friday off so three day weekend baby. plenty of skiing.

ya i go to u of u, take about 15 credits and got 90 days in this year... i have no idea how the guy above went there and only got 40 i dont know where his priorites were at

there's a big diff. when you have to drive 30mins to the hill everyday....I hated that. Now the hill is 2 minutes driving 10 mins walking...much better and I get a lot more days. AND I hit every powder day.

any of you engineering students who get a lot of skiing in? im goin into engineering and i hear its a shit load of work. im hopin i can stay on top of the work and ski a lot

I'm a mechanical enginerd at CU Boulder. I skied 103 days this season. I skied 4 days/week because I only had monday/wednesday/friday classes. I had a 3.4 spring semester, and a 3.6 fall semester (that's because I actually studied in september and october). It's all about time management. I do schoolwork from the time I get home until I go to bed monday to thursday nights, i'd drive to the mountains and couch surf for the weekend, then go to bed early on sundays.

It's possible, you just have to commit to it, and not slack. I never ditch classes for skiing, and never sleep in class. I think that makes it easier.

Becka's got er' down.......only I can't say that I never ditched class for skiing. I can also say that I'm not an auditory learner so class is sometimes pointless for me, i'm a show me kinda guy.

I am an engineering student and a business student. I cant say that I never ditch class though. You just have to figure out which classes you really need to go to the lecture and which classes you can just read the book for. Generally I learn a lot more from recetations and the class book than from the lectures. With this philosophy I have managed to ski 1-3 times a week and make the deans list.

i am going into my 5th year and i dont get out a whole lot. my problems are:the closest mountain is 2 hours away, my truck was not the most reliable vehicle to drive two hours in, and since i pay for all of my own school i am too poor to buy lift tickets

im going to college this year, the mtn im skiing at is about 1 hour away i hope ill get aleast 3-4 days in a week, we have night skiing that gives me more time , i just hope that i will get to ski as much as i want to

I am going to be going to Montana State in Bozeman. From the kids that I talked to there its pretty easy to ski a lot and still make classes. I can't wait, because as we all know...Michigan sucks.

I skied a lot less than I had hoped in university. For one, it got to the point where I was too busy with work to go skiing. I also had no car so had to rely on others to get to the hill (which was problematic when it was about 2 hours away).

Freeskifro and Loydx-mas; others can read too!

I go to MTU (michigan Tech). Freeskifro, you're gonna miss out going out to Bozeman. Although Tech's not for everyone, I have a few (6) buddies that went to Montana State and ALL 6 ended up coming back to Tech. I spent a semester there and although the skiing was good, the skiing is still good in the keewenaw at MTU. We get as much snow as many of the resorts out west, including bridger bowl. Terrain is comperable, the big difference is vertical. And, well, the ski hill is a coupla minute drive or a bus ride.

Someone asked if any of us worked.......I do. I'm an instructor and work in the shop once or twice a week.

good luck

Yeah that doesn't sound all bad but I can't pass up Montana's film program. Shits top notch. Plus I have got to get out of Michigan.

ummm......yeah, good call on the film thing. Tech doesn't so much as even have a film program...so good choice.

I hate michigan too, but up there, it truly doesn't feel like michigan.

Go to Gogebic Community College and major in ski area management if you really want to ski alot. There you will work at the ski hill owned by the college get credit and get paid. I skied atleast 5 days a week my first winter there. Your second winter is spent on an internship (I went to Beaver Creek) I skied at least 80 days there. The best part you only spend two semesters and six weeks in school. The program is also transferable to Northern Michigan University for a bachelors in ski area business management. If you are serious about sking lots thats where to go

^way to go on your first post, I remeber my first post...anyway, yeah Northern Michigan has a sweet Ski Area Business Mang. Program. Its acually thru a community college there.

depends on how far you live from the mountains too, cuz you'll get tired of the drive. My 1st year i skied about 60 days, 2nd year about 40 days, and maybe 30 good days last season, just because i'm really getting sick of I-70 and only try to go out if the weather should be nice. I think now that i ski less days, I just make more of each time i'm out in summit county (spend 6-8 hours on the snow instead of 2-3).

I like to ski, I don't like to drive I-70
