Collar bones?

So I pulled a T-wall yesterday and snapped my collar bone. I just had some x-rays done and haven't talked to an orthopedic doctor yet so anybody know how long they usually put you out for?

meh depends on the break i guess...they are a bitch when i broke mine it set me out for probably 4 weeks...its the kind of thing you want it to heal right cause its painful to do anything...the worst is sleeping cause you can't find a comfortable spot and then you will fall asleep then roll on to that shoulder and wake up in crazy pain ha

yeah mine broke at the joint where it attaches at the shoulder which they said was unusual. so i can expect about 4-6 weeks unless they have to set it or do surgery or some bullshit?

You will have to wear a brace for about 6 weeks. That is unless you are as stupid as I was and break it again a week after the first one.

yo i got a pretty serious fracture, and i drank maaad milk and kept it super still, and it healed in 4. it sticks out funny, but watev 2 more weeks of skiing

ive broken mine 3 timesfirst was about 4 weekssecond was about 8third was in 3 very separate pieces and i wasn't doing anything for 11 weeks

mine is just finishing healing at 3 weeks, but it was just a small fracture. my brother actually snapped his a few years ago and it took at least 6 weeks i believe. so i'm guessing it will heal in 6 weeks or more maybe. sorry to hear dude, hope it heals quick.

sorry for the double post but i was skiing during my healing time, but don't be stupid like me. my friend just rebroke his by sledding too early and it realllly set him back. i was lucky and cautious when i skied but i wouldn't even bother; just wait till its done, then shred. sorry dude, that's life. +vibes good health to ya.

I broke mine about 3 weeks ago. I'm out of the brace and the bone is starting to re-from. My shoulder feels completely normal now and the bone isn't slipping around anymore. I should be able to ski again in about a week and a half. I had a very clean break, so it hasn't really been giving me any problems. Just really take it easy for the first few weeks, it's not worth messing it up even more.

~2-4 weeks of the sling, then a few weeks until it felt better. I tramped at about 3-4weeks but it still hurt to fall, busted it up again a month later playing football, so just give it time you never really know when its fully healed

I did mine first day of christmas break( a week ago ish) , i donno if its unusuall but mine stopped being sore after a few days and now im completly off painkillers, but yah 6 weeks

Broke mine downhilling last spring, broke it in 2 places (kind of like this if you can understand my ASCII drawing ==/=/== ). After 4 weeks I was back on the bike but still felt a little pain and after 5 I was alright. Drink alot of milk and don't do stupid shit and you'll be back up really soon (I drank and still drink about 10L of milk per week )
Hope you get better soon!

my buddy was out of his sling in about 4 weeks but not 100 percent good to go until about a month after he got outta the sling. but that kid has horrible luck. he has broken so many bones it doesnt seem possible. we went mtb'ing and whistler bp like a week after he heeled his broken leg and he crashed broke his collarbone. brutal.

Around 6-8 weeks with a normal clean break. The bad thing about breaking your collar bone is that it's weaker even once it heals which is a bit annoying.

I broke mine around a year and a half ago, Clean break pretty much in the centre, but I recently found out I snapped all the tendons around the joint and now it dislocates if I lift it above my shoulder. Pretty gay :(

Op planned in jan...

Good luck on the recovery though!

Thanks for all the input. I had a CAT scan today and i really did a number on it. It broke at the end where it meets the shoulder and twisted as well. So its gonna need surgery to install a plate and 6-8 weeks recovery. But apparently collar bone breaks are all the rage this year so i'm keeping up with the trend haha.

Dude that sucks and i just broke mine really bad and i have like 2-3 months. And some doctors say you should have surgery some dont so if you do that could be longer. But good luck with every thing hopefully it will be quicker than you think.

Oh you're in the lifting the arms up dislocating collar bone club too? Hahah yeah every time I lift my left arm above chest level I dislocate my collar bone and shoulder.
Its ooooodles of fun.

collar bones are the worst. i can't even look at one without feeling like i'm gonna throw up.

i broke mine when i was a kid, it still feels weird all the time.

ladies and gentlemen, i just broke my collar bone AGAIN today, exactly one month after i just broke it. DO NOT TRY STUPID THINGS SHORTLY AFTER YOUR HEALING PERIOD IS OVER, GAAAAHHHHH. now my season is over because i'm moving to africa in a month. yay no season whatsoever, except for a few times in november. /rant
