Cold temps and forward pressure

So, last night i was at the mountain and it was about 5* f. and my skis were pre-releasing like crazy. like they would fall off when doing a switchup. so i looked at the indicator on the side of the heel piece and saw it was way off from what i set it at. so i tightened it to where it should be. but today i snapped my boots in and the indicator was wayy to high. so i put it back to where i had it set when it was pre releasing and the indicator was in the right place.

i feel like the reason it happened was because the boot contracted from the cold weather, then expanded in my house.

has anyone else had this problem and is it even possible that it happens? and what should i do about it. (i have rossi SAS 110 bindings btw)

Could just be the metal being more brittle or something. I usually notice my bindings creaking like crazy when it is super cold out

Never heard of that happening before and that is kind of surprising.

Could it possibly have been that the binding had slipped back while you were riding or that you had snow/ice jammed into it?

For the physics behind it though is that the plastic is a semi-crystaline material and therefore is subject to approximately has a range of from 0.005 in/in to 0.010 in/in of shrinkage and as well is subject to isotropic shinkage which is equal shrinking in all directions. Therefore if your ski boot was 4 feet long it may make a dramatic difference however seeing as the scale of your ski boot i would be doubtful that it would be noticeable.

Well class is done so I have to pce. Will post up more if you have any questions!
