Coke and rum killed my nalgene

If I make a drink to go somewhere with I try to put it in like a poland springs bottle so I can throw it out after but I didnt have one so I used my favorite nalgene. Now my water bottle smells like rum and drinking from it in class in the morning is not a great feeling. Does anyone know how to get it back to normal?
 
once i left some juice in a nalgene for like 3 days, so i soaked it in water and lemon juice over night and it got rid of the smell, worth a shot I suppose
 
Boil water and put baking powder in the water dump boiling water in to nailgene let soak rinse repeat
 
i left fireball in my nalgene for prolly 2 weeks when i left it at my buddies house. reeked of whisky and cinnamon till i threw it in the dishwasher. now its good as new.
 
hahaha, be happy you did it in your nalgene, i once went partying with a camelback under my sweater, filled with apple schnaps, the thing still tastes like apples :)
but i don't give a shit, i like my water fruity ....
 
did this with beer... except i forgot where i put it, found it a couple weeks later behind the washer (how it got there still eludes me), and needless to say it still smells like beer.

I have tried the soap and water, and the baking soda. haven't tried bleach yet, hopefully that works. either that or i'll just get a metal bottle.
 
not the rasta nalegene.... just throw that shit away and get something that doesnt make you look like a fucking idiot.
 
When you live on a small college campus that is very strict against drinking thats how you get away with it. I go to one of the lamest colleges out and they will fine you mad money if they catch you with a beer or solo cup in your hand.
 
I had tequila in mine last summer, it smelled like it for a while, probably didn't help that I didn't rinse it out all summer and didn't realize until I went to use it at the beginning of school. I just smelled it an it still smells like margaritas haha. I don't mind it, but just rinse it out and wash it really good.
 
clearly the answer is with the bottle..if you take a fat bong rip and blow it out in your water bottle then close the lid and let it sit for a while, things will get better
 
the real question is, how did that ruin your nalgene? You now have coke and rum flavored water anytime you want it...
 
when your walking around the base lodge of sunday river, you carry coke and rum in a nalgiene,but we drink jack straight from the bottle.
 
hahaha remember that time we were sitting on the picnic table next to a family with little kids and i whipped out a bottle of goose. I miss classy ski days and having money that i could afford classy days.

NO! i used mine to catch the bong water from a waterfall once and it took me forever to get the smell out. clorox did the trick.
