Cody Townsend Joffree Rescue

Have any of you guys been following The Fifty series by Cody Townsend? Him and his BC partner pulled off a crazy rescue after a solo skier fell down Central at Joffree Peak. They made a mini documentary about it that's a sick watch and really proves the danger of BC skiing. Def worth a subscribe on YouTube.

Great video, thanks for sharing. Was this guy skiing alone in the BC? Thats a decently gnarly descent im surprised he went out on his own. Maybe hes done it a bunch of times so he thinks itll be okay but its a huge nono. Never ski alone

I think the guy was hiking down the central couloir, and just fuckin ate it. Crazy how Cody looked up back the hill for a second and saw him falling alone

My favorite series on YouTube and some of the best skiing content being produced. Fuck yeah, Cody!

solo hike down a 35+ degree coulouir? doesnt seem right to me

Holy shit that just pulled me right in. Some bad decision-making on the solo dude's part made-up for by some totally on point thinking by Cody and homie to save his life - that's some real shit. That looked so so gnarly.

Everyone just remember that it’s easy to pass judgement from behind a screen but we all make mistakes in the mountains. People do stupid shit but none of us knows the whole story or what the accident victim was thinking. This is a great learning opportunity for anyone that is into backcountry traveling of any sort.

Dude I’ve seen people fucking sled off a cornice known as “idiot’s cornice” right into a scree field and dragged a guy off of Loveland pass who broke his back jumping off a cliff in November directly into a scree field.....the fact that this guy in the video even made it to that location says he’s probably pretty competent.

Try coming to Loveland pass where any moron that can walk 100’ off the highway can kill themselves and you’ll know what true mountain stupidity looks like, lol.

was the guy skiing in a no fall zone

and how did he survive for 45mins after he fell before bjane came

I admit I could be wrong for sure but the guy didn’t have any ski gear with him in the clip- plus Cody mentioned he might’ve been hiking down in the video at some point

I can’t even imagine how bad it gets out at Loveland

It’s something else. There’s not a lot of places in the country with such easily accessible BC terrain so close to a major population center. It requires 0 hiking, and people hitch hike back to the summit all day. People can realistically take 10-20 laps in a day...plenty of time to get broken off.

It’s not like it’s world class terrain or anything, but it’s avalanche terrain with a continental snow pack, so bad shit can happen. 90% of people have no gear or training. Don’t get me wrong, there’s competent people recreating there or very nearby, but mostly people who are savvy steer clear of Loveland pass and opt for other terrain right on the divide even a drainage or two over.
