COD Champs

cod for xbox is lame. want to see actual good players playing without aim assist? watch PC

Another ignorant citizen.....*sighs*

Nobody realizes that COD and esports are legitimate ways to live. 100,000k a year from contract, plus tournament winnings.

Ill watch some of it always like watching good games. Also i think once you get to a point on console the aim assist is actually more of a nuisance and causes more problems at least thats what i find.

Sport: An activity involving PHYSICAL exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

A virtual activity to profit.

Being pro at League Of Legends does, sadly

These guys get paid to travel, compete and party in huge houses .

This is 2014, being geeky is trendy.

Lol I mean it's true that pc is the legit way to game. Nothing beats a mouse and keyboard, game controls aren't made for first person shooters. I'm terrible at shooting games but I definitely appreciate a mouse/keyboard over a controller.

John please if you read what i wrote, "esports" not "sport". Im not claiming that video games are sports, just using the term "esports" as a label for competitive play.

Some of these upsets are getting crazy. 14th seed beat the 3rd and 6th seed to qualify for the 1 million dollar tournament.

it saddens me to see that a corporation is giving someone with a video game and too much time on their hands $1 million when they could donate to charity or do some good in the world... appalling, in my opinion

If I had seen this thead five years ago I might have been interested, but I find almost all video games really boring these days. Kind of a bummer really.

yeah, those guys have worked a hell of a lot more than a guy sitting in front of a TV with a bag of Doritos... they train every day and it takes a lot of physical skill and practice, whereas COD requires what? they're sitting down, for fuck's sake...

Lol who would wanna watch a bunch of pimple faced nerds play a video game in their moms basement.

look at a game like starcraft or dota2/league, these games actually take though and strategy

hate all you want esports are a legitimate thing, and if you think "all video games are a waste of time" see other "wastes of time" that other people enjoy like fantasy football or watching every episode of breaking bad.

Look at the following of dota or league of legends and the amount of people that dedicate so much time to it. It takes lots of practice to be good, and even more practice and dedication to be the best. Valve is about to release a movie about this on the 19th called free to play that should be interesting.

It’s fantastic and this is a great thing because it inspires everybody and gives them motivation to look up to the 1% and say I want to become one of those people. This is fantastic news and of course I applaud it. I’m very excited about it, I am wonderful to see it happen.

Well let's compare people at the top, professional sports people make 20-50 mil a year, these guys only make 100k. Of course they do less "work" (altho I bet any guy getting paid 6 figures to game would disagree) they're still a speciality skill, like pro sports only a elite few can do what they do and get paid for it. Just because they do something you find "worthless" doesn't mean it's not marketable with "pro" represenitives.

Thank you. Finally someone who realizes this. Im not trying to say that video games are a sport, but the professionals really do deserve what they have accomplished. They train everyday just like athletes. But obviously it isnt as physically demanding as working out.

The Call of duty pros are on the same level as mlb nfl nba, when talking about a skill gap between pros and ametuers. If you tried to become a pro in COD it would take as much dedication and motivation as it would to become a pro in any sport.

any sport? let's take football as an example. you're telling me that it takes the same amount of motivation to sit in front of a TV all day as it does to train in the gym and practice 8 hours a day? I have less than no respect for these greasy ass nerds who sit in the basement and think they're a 'professional athlete'.

Not defending these insane gamer bros but you just dislike them and it effects your opinion, not very fair for arguing. Just sayin

I'm not defending console COD though, if you're going to market a FPS as an esport at least do it right with Counter-Strike, which takes lots of talent and precision to be good at. Quake too.

Wow honestly esports are legitimate. Now I can't speak on console games. COD etc, so much. But being and avid CS:GO and Dota player. Both these games take an amazing amount of skill, strategy, reaction time, and most of all teamwork. I am a huge fan of multiplayer 5v5. And I do enjoy watching Counterstrike games, and I have many friends who enjoy watching dota games. What I find to be even cooler is how much of the prize purses in tournaments for these games, are funded by other players. Valve has created in game purchases and ways to donate to the prize purses and I really do enjoy that.

Yes sitting in front of a computer may seem a little more lame then running down a field or court. But essentially it is more of a mindgame than a physical game. Should people not be rewarded for being smart?

Thank you. Playing any video game at a competitive level is a lot more grueling on the brain than people realize.

anyone who rags on esports because it has the word sport in it is a retard. there's no other word for it. it's a convenient name. all of you can shut the fuck up now. melee's the best game ever anyways.
