Coc vs. High North

ok so i checked out coc's site and it looks really good, but i heard some bad things about coc like they lie about some things like no rope-tow which isnt a big deal but might change what i would do for a camp this summer, is it more snowboard motivated, is high north big i know its smaller than coc but how is it? gimme the details if u went to either or both thx

which is more important? i mean i was thinkin if i go to coc that i would do the 12 or 15 day prog. cause i can really learn stuff in 9-11 days of skiing

I've never been to High North, but I have been to CoC. Personally, hanging with pros is cool and all, but at CoC, they are still quite good. And just because you're a badass skier doesn't make you a good teacher. But CoC was definitly a blast. Yes, there is a rope tow for the pipe. CoC has the most terrain on the glacier. And the best part is the totally chill attitude. Once you're off the glacier, you're free to do what the hell you want. No councelors breathing down your nack or anything. Just like spending a week with a bunch of friends skiing Whistler. It was a blast.

Thanksgiving is kind of a weird holiday. I mean, we're celebrating the one time in history we got along with the Native Americans. Its like a date rapist saying 'We should concentrate on the great dinner we had before the evening started.'
 
I went to High North last summer. Total dissapointment. Im not a hater, but I saved up for that camp and it was far from as good as advertised. If you arent rich, and i mean this, dont go. Save your money. IF it is just like a vacation for you, then go for it. You will have fun. But if it is alot of money for you, dont go. IT is not all it is cracked up to be, i couldnt sleep because my room had no door and they stayed up till like 11 30. I want to sleep when im trying to progress. It is shitty lay out too...one kid gets his own room with closet, private bathroom, and a queen sized bed, while another gets a bunk bed with no door (like me). IM wouldn't be complaining but like I said, I want to get sleep for a big day, and for that kind of money it should be even for everybody. Plus it was pising rain the whole time, not the camps fault, but it is alot of money to put into a week when so much can go wrong. The coaches were nice but kinda did there own thing. Free stuff.... just a shirt and a sweat band and a sticker. oh and 5 bucks at mcoos!!! A coach was kind enough to give some old stuff of his tho, so thanks to him. Make your own decision, but if it is alot of money for you, it is not worth it, i wish somone would have told me that.

high north is sick.. but at camp of champs, theres a freedom that you dont get with any other camp.. thats the only plus... theres no video reviews, no groups (there are, but u dont have to be wit them).. its just loose, and yur free to do what you want.. which i think for some people is the make or break when trying to choose camps... plus it has NASTY terrain

the only thing newschool hucker complained about was the room and that he didnt get enough free stuff... High North is a very good camp with good coaches and really good terrain thanks to the diggers. I slept on the top bunk in the room without a door, and its really not that big a deal..

yeah newschoolhucker complained about all external problems. how about this: for 1300 bucks you get to stay in a condo in whistler village, all of your meals are paid for, you ski for 5 hours or whatever for 6 days, you can go downhill mt biking or wakeboarding and water ramping or just go skating in town. you hang with the best of the best and learn from them and in my experience all but one of the coaches i had were awesome. and if you look at the value... condo in whistler for 8 nights... 800 bucks at least... a weeks worth of eating out in whistler, all you can eat for the most part, 600 bucks, at least, there you go, thats your 1300. so now your skiing with pros for free and wakeboarding. no contest, high north kills it.

True but newschool has a point. If your gonna go and can barely afford it, then just try to have fun and treat it like a vacation. If you a rich basterd who can afford like 2 weeks go to progress. I saved my $$ for over 3 years and when i went i treated it like vacation and didnt worry about learning new shit. I went to coc by the way and it was the best 4 days of my life.

COC definately. the coaches are soo kool and u can do whatever u want all the time. it is awesome. and matt sterbenz is the man...he was our coach one year and was kool as hell. all the other coaches are great to. COC is the best

im gettin mixed messsages here but they are all good, i mean i want to be able to be free and ski but i also want some good coaching, i like to use my time not like a vacation when im skiing cause i want to learn, i am also goin by myself does that change anything>?

i've gone to CoC for 2 years, and the lack of real progressive terrain is bothering me...no rollercoast, s-rail, huge tables (not this year, at least)

Going by yourslef is better some times, unless you ahve a really tight friend. And I what I said was that if you can afford it then go, but it is a vacation. It is not a super week where you are going to learn everything. It is a rich kids camp. I went there and I was por compared to everyone. There was this one kid from aspen, like Wrestler goldbergs nephew or something, and he was the cockiest kid ever, he spent $2400 in a shop at once. They 'sponsored' him after that. HAd a staff shirt and everything...

high north was super cool, and all the coaches except one were awesome. i slept in the bunk bed room, but ours had a door and i was dead tired anyways. you get free breakfast, water ramping, wake boarding, mountain biking. the food places kinda sucked, but it was free so who cares. coc has more terrain, but they didn't have the 55 foot jump to the giant quarter like we did. abma was a really cool guy too, let me borrow his goggles. i might go to COC next summer, i'm not sure yet.

For the most part, you'll be able to do whatever you want at most of the camps. SMS and High North put you into groups and assign coaches, but where and what you ski is up to you. There's activities everynight, but it's not like they take roll call and you have to show up. I personally liked having the day aready arranged when I was at SMS. And if your over 19 you have free reign to go out and get fucked up everynight if you so desire.

 
How tight are these camps if you want to go out and party? can you go on your own with high north, or are they really tight?
