COC douchebag kids get done.

cut it with the pms nomesteven, it doesn't matter if i've never been to south america 14 year olds shouldn't be sent to another state in the US all alone.

what kind of vandalism? ha those kids FAIL

that was just straight up stupidity, but dont u think that the punishment is a little harsh. it was fucking dumb to do in the first place, but i think they should of been banned from skiing/snowboarding for a few days. i mean im sure a lot of ppl have done worse stuff than that in a gondola.

I 100% agree. I would much rather go to Chile and ski powder. Plus you'd get a great, one-of-a-kind cultural experience. I mean, Whistler sounds boring compared to going to Chile -- at least to me.

what a bunch of cocksuckers. The Peak-2-Peak is so sick, I mean for God's sake, it's a fucking engineering revolution. Whistler is, in many people's opinions, one of the sickests resorts in North America and is always super supportive of freeride stuff. Why would you vandalize that gondola unless you had no respect for your sport?

fuck that. they could have done nothing. They gotta learn RESPECT, it goes a long way. Especially if you love skiing, you gotta love everything associated with it kind of. ONE LOVE.

He took it right from you. You best e-beat him. Now that yours is different they're gonna think he made it. Tsk tsk.

quit knockin the kids who would rather have fun at the park than in pow seriously the shits getting old

No, he's right. Its the idea of "summer camp" that American kids have ingrained in their brains from early childhood that makes skiing on a slushy glacier seem so much more fun than it actually is. If any of these kids had two nuts they'd take an adventure south of the equator. Its cheaper and more fun.

You guys don't get it, you could either sign up for camp and a plane and not have to worry or have a 15 year old kid running around Argentina with no real structure or rules.

First of all, Campers disrespecting whistler is gay shit. But why would they be on the "first" peak to peak chair?? I thought they had to go up Wizard.
Think of the average age of a camper, probably 16. You think parents would be stoked to send their kids to south america by themselves?? of course not.

Chile and argentina don't have babysitting services.

You have to understand most campers are underage and their parents want to send them to a safe place.

The average age at camps is 16. Camps are meant to take care of the kids, so the parents don't have to worry about them. There is South America Snow Sessions and I think it's the best value you can get out of a camp, but it is still a lot more expensive than a glacier camp.

Traveling to South America outside of a camp is extremely cheap but there are a lot of factors:

[*]

  • If you want to ride pow you need to know your avalanche stuff, and you need buddies that are equally educated about avalanches. South America is like Europe: the ski resorts are not run like little disneylands, you have to look after yourself.

  • You need to be willing to learn Spanish

  • The risks involved when making the connections to the ski resorts. For example the bus terminal in Buenos Aires is one of the most unsafe places on this planet.

  • You need to be old enough and have enough traveling experience.

  • You will have to travel at least 15 hours. Count a plane connection to a hub airport, then the flight to Buenos Aires or Santiago which is at least 10 hours, and then the bus to the ski resort which can be up to 24 hours.

  • Especially in the case of Argentina there are a lot of medical factors: dengue fever and then there is the swine flu epidemic. All schools, universities, hospitals and public places are shut down in Argentina at this time. On top of that there is the political instability of the country: the opposition won the mid-term elections and is pushing for the president to resign, while the farmers are pushing for revolution.

I will be spending August and September in Argentina as I've done the past 2 years. It is awesome and a great deal of adventure, I wouldn't miss it for the world. But in this whole glacier camps vs. South America debate, those are some reasons why parents or young campers might prefer the safety and simplicity of traveling to Canada.

^This guy knows whats up.
Nomensteven I understand where you're coming from but I'm assuming you are around 20 ish? Most of the kids going to camp or wanting to go to camp are 13-16, 17 including me and would not be able to take a trip to S. America on their own terms. Sure, there might be some exceptions with EXTREMELY lenient parents and a really independent kid but I think for the most part a summer trip to Argentina instead of a summer camp in whistler is totally out of the question for us.

not always true... i saved up a lot of money working over the last year while i could've bought a bunch of other things just to be able to afford a summer camp

I feel the same way as you, but i'm 20. Alot of these kids are def more of the park rat variety. I am planning on doing the whole south america ski trip next summer hopefully. Ripping foreign pow is way more appealing to me than skiing park that i could otherwise just ride in the winter for so much less. but when i was sixteen i probably would have though much different.

i'm one of those kids, so thanks. just because you aren't as lucky as us doesn't mean you should rain hate on us.

why on earth would you risk losing your whole camp experience, it really makes me wonder why people do stuff like this. and its a dick move really

Yea, SASS (south american snow sessions) is not that much more $$$ than going to whistler. The shortest session is two weeks, so i believe it is cheaper than two week sessions at COC or Momentum.
I was going to SASS in about a week but I just broke my ankle :(

This thread is driving me crazy

I too went camp (Momentum) on my parents dollar.

I am extremely grateful, and know how lucky and fortunate I am.

So does this make me a spoiled, rich, brat?

I could explain all the things I had to do to get this.

But anything I said you would turn around, and use against me.

Your quote here isn't fair either.

If he just asked his parents and they said yes, then could say he gets what ever he wants. If he begs them, you can say he is spoiled and used to getting everything he wants.

Why is it horrible, that his or my parents have saved enough money so that they can send their child to ski camp?

Why must this make me spoiled?

I don't get everything I want. I know how lucky I am, and I'm extremely grateful. I know the importance of hard work, and in working for what you want.

No i understand if you are grateful and all that, its just some kids (like the ones pisssing in a gondola) dont deserve it. And i said what i did because he replied to a comment that made him sound spoiled. And yes i do understand that often these kids are going to these camps and its like their birthday and christmas presents for like three years. It just doesnt seem right sometimes for those of us that have to work for everything we have. Anyways, guess im just a bitter old man.

Aight, All Good

Glad to see we're on the same page.

I completely agree about the spoiled kids not deserving it. They're the kids who are the last ones up the hill and the first ones down. And the ones who don't capitalize on every moment their at camp, but instead treat it as their parents will just buy them another session so they don't have to worry.

Also after reading his comment it does seem rather snotty and sny.

And it doesn't seem fair to have to work for everyhting but at least it creates an even stronger sense of pride and enjoyment when we do achieve what we want.

And aren't you 20? Go enjoy life, get a job as a digger at a camp.

yes!!! every non skier under the age of 14 at windells was a whiny bitch who exected us to give them everything they want.

Haha i think this si very funny cause like what the fuck would you be thinking to piss in a gondola like what has happened in you life to make you think thats o.k. But the funniest think of all is at the end of the camp session when they give out free shit (i was there) his name got pulled out of a hat to win a free 2010 snowboard. They gave it to another kid but if he wasnt a retard he would have won a snowboard.

Easier said then done at this moment in my life, i wish i could. Im currently trying to finish my engineering degree so i can have that taken care of. But after its done I will have plenty of options.

don't kid yourself, pissing on the dc metro doesn't count...place is practically a network of port-a-potty's.

thats so fucked up that they did that. obviously they didn't pay themselves to go to camp. Dumb little fuckers blew their parents money on some stupid prank. the people who deserve to go to these camps are usually the ones that can't afford it because they would actually understand what a good opportunity it is.

Don't blame COC. Everything those kids deserved?!!! I think they should have held them down and let the lifties piss on them. Either that or they should have mopped up the Godola with their bandanas and made them wear them for the rest of the day. Act like a terd, and you will get flushed!!!

i guess i probably am kinda spoiled, but its not like i get everything i want. the trip to whistler was a family trip, and i was really lucky to convince my parents that it would be worth the money. sadly, i broke my elbow a week before we left, so we are going next year instead.

Ah shit that sucks man. Hopefully it heals up fast. At least its now and not during the winter. That would be a rad family trip.

They deserve to get sent home, banned ect. I guarantee they didnt pay for the camp themselves, they NEVER would have done that. You work all year to get your 2+g and then literally piss it away? Not a chance, spolied douchebags.
