CNBC's Million Dollar Portfolio Challenge

I don't know how I moved up in this thing. Dumb luck I guess. I was in the 11th percentile, now I'm in the 95.52% percentile (well as of last night) but I'm up again today. I guess we'll see. There must be a lot of people playing, because even in the 95.52% game rank percentile, I'm still 25,466th

I forgot you can only make 25 moves a day and screwed myself over for the rest of the day now. I decided I would try and buy large amounts of some lower priced stocks hoping for them to go up a dollar or 2 and sell sell sell. it worked for a bit until it wouldnt let me make anymore moves, now im stuck with a bunch of really shitty stocks hahaha hopefully they go up today and they are up tomorrow morning so i can sell.

PNRA guys, panera bread.. i made 16,000 in 1 day off that stock.

I wonder what the strategies are of the people in first place. This is my top performer...up 10% again today

I knew they were giving away 10 vacations. What I didn't realize is the people who win the vacations are the weekly top % gainers. So you don't even need to be in the top of the contest to win this, just be the biggest rebounder of the week. I'm actually hoping for a shot at this this week.

and...just as i was kickin' butt...up 108,000 for the day....stocks plummet-- and continue to plummet. up 70k and falling

damn lucky you! all my stocks that were making money last friday are now making me broke today!!

One thing I wish they would have made possible with this game that most online trading programs let you do is the ability to set a sell price on stocks. so like if I buy something for 13.50 I can set it to sell all my stocks in this company when it hits 14.00. I wish they would have put that in, its a great feature to make quick sales that allows you to make some money quickly.

does this shit lag realllly bad on anyone elses mac?? its just on my iMac it works great on my macbook pro but its sooo slow on my imac its crazy. when i scroll down it doesnt go anywhere then all of a sudden its at the bottom of the page. soo annoying!

yes, it freezes like 100 times/day.

What is going today also, the quotes that are shown on the screen aren't at all accurate with where each stock actually is. The numbesr are all F'd today. I don't know whether to trade based on what the real market is doing, or based on the weird off numbers on the cnbc site today.

on a side note, I finished yesterday in position 13, 443. Which I guess is 97.67 percentile. Not doing well today though, but who is?

not me at all down 26 grand today... but whatever im buying up a bunch of shit thats gone down like 2 to 4 dollars in the last few days hoping they will all jump up in the next couple days and I can sell! most are natural resource companies, they seem to go up and down a lot so if I am online and catch one when they go up I might have the potential to have some nice gains.

and on a side note 13,443 is pretty damn good you got lucky as hell with the YOKU shit... how the hell did you hear about that or was it just a random purchase, I saw you made like 500k off that alone in a couple days!

my is super glitchy as well (PC)

im not making money today, and my gains of yesterday have been wiped out. failing hard at this.

by no means an educated pick-- I just looked up the most volatile stocks. I also bought into the stocks that dropped the most at the end of last week, hoping they'd make big recoveries. Yoku was one of them.

might want to buy into yoku now. It is down about 22% today. If it rises back to yesterdays closing price within the next couple of days you'll make a lot.

word. just bought 2000 shares of netflix, hoping it makes a return as well. It's down 14%. I know netflix as a company has been going downhill but I think they just partnered with Facebook and yahoo.

Thanks to Yoku and Paneras poor preference along with a few other companies im down 46k for the day hahaha... Luckily i bought while stuff was down, by no means down this bad but if stuff goes back up I could make some cake!

what sucks is that some millionaire economist is going to win the million dollars...

it's like having a golf tournament but letting PGA pros play in it.

WFT happened?

granted i havent logged in like 2 weeks (been busy) so i missed something. but why is all my money back in cash?

someone hit the reset button? sucks for those doing well.

I guess there was a glitch that some people found out about to make extra money. CNBC found out about it and reset everything.
